When you model and analyze a physical system like a car's suspension or a robotic arm, its dynamic behavior is entirely controlled by these three parameters: 🟢 **Natural Frequency (ω_n):** Look at the green dashed line! If your system had absolutely zero friction or resistance (zeta = 0), this dictates how fast it would continuously vibrate forever. 🔵 **DC Gain (K):** Just like we saw in first-order systems, this is your final destination. Increasing K simply scales the final steady-state amplitude up or down. 🔴 **Damping Ratio (zeta):** The ultimate shock absorber! When zeta is low, the system is underdamped and bounces wildly before finally settling. As you crank the damping up, it acts like the brakes, squashing those oscillations until the system smoothly glides to the target. Visualizing these variables in motion completely changes how you understand control theory.
