It was used across the Western Himalayas, including what are now Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttarakhand. It was the official script for Dogri in the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir and was used for many other languages, including Kangri, Chambeali, Sirmauri, Bilaspuri, Garhwali, and Gaddi. Its use declined significantly after the late 1940s, and other scripts like Devanagari became dominant, especially in official contexts.

That's why we often mispronounce words like: Qismat (fate) - not "Kismat" Haq (right) - not "Hak" Qamar (moon) - different from Kamar (waist) Qainchi, Qareeb, Qeemat, Qusoor, Qatar, Quran Meanwhile, words like Kitaab, Kafan, and Kiraya genuinely use the 'क' (k) sound. Tarih: H.1298 (M.1880)_H.1305 (M.1887) Şeyh Muhammed Selim-ül Kadiri tarafından yazılan hat levhası rik’a girift sülüs yazı ile açık renk zemine sarı yaldızla yazılmıştır. Levha üzerine bütün Kur’an yazılmış ve yedi yılda tamamlanmıştır. Levha üzerinde kırmızı ve mavi ile yazılmış yazı vardır. Levhanın ortasında karşılıklı çifte vavlar levhanın kompozisyonunu oluşturmaktadır. Vav harflerinin üzerinde tarikat tacına benzeyen bir tac vardır. Bütün şekillerin içi yazı ile doldurulmuştur. Süslemelerde renkli olarak gül demeti, gül dalı ve vazolar kullanılmıştır.
