Written by #MarkHollis and Tim Friese-Greene, it was the title track on the band's second album, It's My Life (1984), and released as its first single on 3 January 1984. It reached number 46 on the UK Singles Chart but did better in several other countries, reaching number 33 in Germany, number 32 in New Zealand, number 25 in France, number nine in Italy and number 30 in Canada. In the United States, the song peaked at number one on the Billboard Dance/Disco Top 80 chart. It was the group's only top-40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, making Talk Talk a one-hit wonder in the US.

Le britannique disparaîtra ensuite des écrans radars, avant de disparaître tout court le 25 février 2019, à l’âge de 64 ans.
