SAHate making cake slices for your wedding tasters?
Check out how I make them which is a much easier method.
Read the tips below on the step by step process as well as where I get all my equipment and packaging from!
- I bake thin sheets of cake in all the different flavour sponges that I offer. I then cut them up into rectangles to fit the size of the pot - I actually used the base of one of the pots to mark the size in the sponge.
- Place the sponge in the bottom of the pot and add your fillings and icing on top - I used to do two layers of sponge which took a lot longer but by just using one layer it's a more accurate representation of the sponge to filling/buttercream ratio you'll find in my cakes.
- Pop the lid and stick down the sides with either sellotape or clear circle stickers to ensure the lids don't pop off during transit. Add a flavour sticker to the top - I made these myself.
- When I box up my tasters I start by placing a piece of ribbon in first, then some bubble wrap to cushion the bottom of the pots, then all six pots go in nice and snug. Followed by a thank you card and some iced biscuits before tying a bow. Place lots of bubble wrap/shredded paper on top before taping up.
Et voila! Also fun fact, my most popular flavour during this round of tasters was sticky toffee pudding!

The postal boxes are from postpack and are 200mm x 155mm x 90mm and I'll pop a link on my stories which I'll save to my tasters highlights.
I'm aware my tasters contains plastic packaging but the little pots are very robust and could be easily washed and re-used. It is very difficult to post a perishable product through the post without the use of plastic to keep it fresh.
