Shampoo days after cold capping with TCHP are more than just washing your hair… they’re a reminder that nothing about this season is normal. Your hair routine changes. The water has to be cold. You move slower. Gentler. Suddenly you’re hyper-aware of every strand. Shedding brings a level of anxiety I never expected. Because shampoo days are when you lose the most. And you can’t help but wonder… how much am I really losing? I’ve found it easier to shampoo in the sink— cold water is manageable there, and I can actually see and monitor what’s coming out. It gives me a tiny bit of control in a situation where so much feels out of my hands. Some days are harder than others. But I keep reminding myself: It’s not coming out in massive clumps. Cold capping isn’t perfect—but any preservation is better than none. So I’m choosing to find the good where I can. Choosing gratitude on the hard days. And reminding myself that fragile doesn’t mean failing… it means surviving. #breastcancer #chemotherapy #chemowarrior #breastcancerfighter #coldcap

What is TCHP? • Taxotere (Docetaxel) • Carboplatin • Herceptin (Trastuzumab) • Perjeta (Pertuzumab) This combo is powerful—and knowing warning signs helps you stay safe and advocate for your body. 🚨 Call Your Oncology Team ASAP If You Have: • Fever ≥100.4°F (38°C) • Chills, sweats, or flu-like symptoms • Shortness of breath or chest pain • Uncontrolled nausea/vomiting • Severe diarrhea (especially with Perjeta) • Dizziness, fainting, confusion 👉 These can be signs of infection or dehydration. ⚠️ Red Flags You Should NEVER Ignore • Rapid heart rate or new palpitations • Swelling in legs, ankles, or sudden weight gain • Persistent cough • Extreme fatigue that doesn’t improve with rest • New or worsening neuropathy (burning, numbness, tingling) 💬 Speak up early—don’t “push through” symptoms. 💓 Heart Health Warning Signs (Herceptin/Perjeta) HER2-targeted therapy can affect the heart. Watch for: • Shortness of breath at rest or exertion • Chest tightness • Dizziness • Decreased exercise tolerance • Swelling in extremities 📌 Regular echocardiograms matter. 🧠 Nervous System & Neuropathy • Numbness or tingling in hands/feet • Burning or electric sensations • Trouble buttoning clothes or balance issues ⚠️ Neuropathy can become long-term if not addressed early. 💩 Gut & GI Warning Signs Common with Perjeta + chemo: • Chronic diarrhea • Abdominal cramping • Dehydration • Electrolyte imbalances 🚨 Diarrhea lasting >24 hours needs medical attention. 🩸 Blood Count Red Flags Low white cells, red cells, or platelets can cause: • Easy bruising or bleeding • Extreme fatigue • Frequent infections • Pale skin or shortness of breath 📌 Labs are not “routine”—they’re lifesaving. ⏳ Possible Long-Term Side Effects Even after treatment ends, some effects can linger: • Peripheral neuropathy • Cardiac function changes • Chronic fatigue • Brain fog (“chemo brain”) • Joint or muscle pain • Nail and skin changes • Early menopause or fertility changes 💡 Long-term survivorship care matters. 🗣️ Advocate for Yourself You are NOT complaining. J’ai traversé les montagnes russes, j’ai pleuré, j’ai douté, j’ai eu peur, mais petit à petit tout cela a laissé place à une immense vague de bienveillance envers moi et envers cette étape qui me permet aujourd’hui de réaliser le sens du mot: VIVRE. Je me souviendrai de ces 5 mois passés dans la souffrance, certes, mais surtout dans l’amour, dans la lumière et dans la foi. Comme jamais auparavant, j’ai eu confiance. En moi, en mon corps, en mes traitements, en ma guérison, en la VIE. Je ne peux pas vous décrire à quel point les moments partagés avec ma famille ces derniers mois étaient magnifiques et ont balayé les passages les plus sombres. Je ne peux pas vous décrire à quel point je me suis délestée des poids qui m’empêchaient de vivre en pleine conscience et en confiance. Je ne peux pas vous décrire à quel point je suis heureuse, profondément heureuse comme je ne l’ai jamais été. Et, ce lundi 9 octobre, elle a partagé sur son compte Instagram des nouvelles encourageantes au sujet de son combat : elle est en voie de guérison. ✨   En ce mois d’octobre rose, nous avons une grande pensée à toutes ces femmes qui se battent chaque jour contre le cancer du sein. Un cancer qui touche encore 1 femme sur 8 en France. MEET ALEX ❤️ In 2024, she was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma at age 34. Her journey with cancer has been extremely difficult. Throughout her chemotherapy, she felt so sick. She went through 6 rounds of TCHP and for 6 months went through immune therapy. On top of that, she had to have a double mastectomy and a full hysterectomy. She took her Victory Trip on a European cruise with her mom. 🌊 “This was the trip of a lifetime! I’ve never had the opportunity to travel with my mother, and getting to experience all of it with her was amazing (especially after the battle we dealt with last year). I’m so appreciative of the opportunity.  The cruise was so cool and each port city was a blast! Thank you so much for this trip!  We will never forget it!  My mom and I are so appreciative to @17_strong and @hollyteixeira.” We are cheering you on Alex! 🙌🏼 #victoriesdontcomebyaccident #17strong
