Adorable Lincoln received his AAC device from Lilly’s Voice when he was just 2.5 years old. At the time, he had no vocal words and had never used an AAC device to communicate. He quickly picked up single words, but his progress skyrocketed when his mom personalized his device to match his interests—adding books, custom folders for his favorite topics, sounds, music, favorite phrases (aka gestalts) and more! Fast forward to today: Lincoln, now 4, is thriving as a multi-modal communicator! He uses his AAC device alongside vocal words and approximations, all while diving into his favorite activity—spelling! He spells words from his books, movie titles, full sentences, and even his own thoughts now too! Lincoln is making his voice heard in incredible ways. Introduction d’un outil de CAA high-tech avec une petite patiente de 2 ans (diagnostic de TSA). On a travaillé énormément à l’aide des buzzers (si vous êtes là depuis quelques semaines, vous devriez la reconnaître) et leur utilisation devenait de plus en plus spontanée. On a discuté avec la famille pour introduire un outil high-tech et on a décidé de tester 😊 On a donc beaucoup joué en amont (via des jeux, pas via l’application de communication) pour comprendre que appuyer = conséquence mais également pour que je puisse décider d’une taille de grille. Ici, je suis tout juste au dessus de ce que j’avais noté mais en CAA, il y a la présomption de compétences et généralement, ils deviennent de plus en plus précis avec l’utilisation. Ia ora na, je vous partage une recette que nous avons testée avec Vaitoanui : un gâteau aux poires et à la farine de taro, 100 % sans gluten ! Comme je vous l’ai déjà expliqué, Vaitoanui a des troubles intestinaux liés à son syndrome génétique, alors nous avons mis en place une alimentation sans gluten depuis plusieurs mois… et ça lui fait du bien. Vaitoanui n’est pas très attiré par les jeux ou les jouets classiques. Les journées peuvent donc être longues, alors nous lui proposons des activités du quotidien, comme cuisiner, verser, transvaser, etc. Bien sûr, on respecte toujours son rythme et ses envies, mais souvent, il observe, participe un peu, puis petit à petit il entre dans l’activité. C’est un peu comme à l’école : même s’il ne cherche pas spontanément le contact avec le groupe ou les autres enfants (lié à son TSA), le fait d’être inclus, de voir, d’entendre… ça l’aide à progresser. Même lorsqu’on a l’impression qu’il ne “fait pas”, il apprend autrement.
