From advanced gases to deeper profiles, this is where things get serious and seriously fun. Based in Roatan, we help experienced divers take that next step into the technical world with proper training, mentoring, and real-world experience. Every solid technical dive starts long before we hit the water. 📝🤿 We define the objective, pick the right gases, build a profile, plan deco, then walk through “what if” scenarios as a team. By the time we roll in, the dive has already been done on paper. That’s the difference between “going deep” and executing a proper technical dive. 🔧 Want more real-world tech planning from Roatan? Same ocean, two very different mindsets. 🌊 Recreational diving keeps you within no-deco limits, simple gear, and simpler plans. Technical diving adds depth, gases, deco, and a whole new level of preparation and responsibility. 🤿🔧 Both are awesome, it’s all about your goals, training, and where you want your diving journey to go. Thinking about crossing over into technical diving? Start with solid skills, the right mentorship, and proper training. We’ve got you. 💪 #technicaldiving #recreationaldiving #tecdiving #roatanteccenter #divetraining

Why Roatan for technical diving? Let’s break it down. 🌊🔧 Steep walls & fast access – Deep water is just minutes from shore and boat, so you spend more time diving and less time commuting. Ideal conditions – Warm water, great visibility, and generally low current make it a perfect classroom for complex skills. Training to exploration – From your first deco course to more advanced projects, you can grow your tech diving without changing destinations. Dedicated tec center – At Roatan Tec Center, everything is set up with technical divers in mind: gear, gases, mindset, and small groups. Thinking about starting or continuing your tech journey here? 📩 Send us a message and let’s talk about your next step. #RoatanTecCenter #TechnicalDiving #Roatan #TecDiving #ScubaTraining

Let’s bust a few tech diving myths. 🔧🤿 Myth 1: It’s only for thrill‑seekers. Reality: The best tech divers are calm, methodical, and borderline obsessed with planning. Myth 2: It’s all about extreme depth. Reality: Technical doesn’t always mean “deeper” - it means more complex profiles, gases, and procedures. Myth 3: It’s insanely dangerous. Reality: With proper training, disciplined procedures, and the right mindset, the risks are understood and managed, not ignored. Thinking about stepping into the technical side of diving? Ask questions, get trained, and take it one solid skill at a time. #technicaldiving #tecdiving #divetraining #roatan #sidemountdiving

Highlights from a recent Extended Range Dive to 185ft 🤘🏻 It’s amazing how vibrant the reef is especially at depths where ambient light has almost completely disappeared. To see the reef like this I use video lights that bring out the true beauty of what we see at these depths. Diving this deep requires planning, training and teamwork far beyond an everyday fun dive. I’m having way too much fun guiding and teaching with @roatantecteam in the winter off season from Tahoe so if you want to start your scuba training or progress into technical dives like these DM us! #tdidivers #sidemount #scubainstructor #scubaadventures #technicaldiving #saltlife #roatan

That moment when you’re the only sidemount diver on the boat and suddenly you’re the “techy” one 😏🤿 Is it more streamlined? More flexible? More… superior? We’ll let the trim and gas options speak for themselves. All jokes aside, dive what makes sense for your training, environment, and goals, but we’ll always have a soft spot for clean sidemount setups. 🔧 #sidemount #sidemountdiving #technicaldiving #roatandiving #tecdiving

Come along with us for the Advanced Open Water course in Roatan 🤿 This is where diving really starts to open up: - Deep dives – feel what it’s like to drop down the wall and manage depth like a pro - Navigation dives – learn to lead the way instead of just following the group - Drift dives – let the current do the work while you fly over the reef - Fish ID – finally put names to all those fish you’ve been pointing at - Night dives – same reef, completely different world after dark 🌙 It’s not about being “expert,” it’s about getting more confident, more curious, and more free underwater. If you’re already certified and love diving, this is your next step! Come get your Advanced with us here in Roatan. 💙 #AdvancedOpenWater #RoatanDiving #CoconutTreeDivers #ScubaTraining

How to deploy a DSMB 🎈🤿 A DSMB (delayed surface marker buoy) is that long tube you send to the surface at the end of a dive so boats know where you are. Super useful for: - Letting the boat spot you in waves or current - Making safer ascents away from boat traffic - Marking your position if you’re drifting Once you’ve done it a couple of times, sending up a DSMB becomes one of those “I’ve got this” skills that makes you feel way more confident in open water. #CoconutTreeDivers #DSMB #DiverTraining #SafetyFirst #RoatanDiving

Understanding Diving Trim While buoyancy determines whether a diver ascends or descends, trim determines how efficiently the diver moves through the water. Body position directly affects drag, propulsion efficiency, and ultimately gas consumption. ● Positive trim (head-down) occurs when the diver’s upper body is lower than the legs. This position significantly increases drag and forces the diver to constantly compensate with finning. As a result, propulsion becomes inefficient and gas consumption typically increases. When using a drysuit and a rebreather, the situation can become even more pronounced. Gas inside the drysuit tends to migrate toward the legs, while the rebreather counterlungs may shift gas toward the diver’s back, making inhalation significantly difficult. The diver can also carry more gas in the wing, which can create a tendency to “kick themselves downward.” ● Negative trim (legs-down) is the opposite configuration, where the diver’s head and torso are elevated while the legs drop downward. This posture often causes divers to kick the bottom, disturbing the environment and creating unnecessary drag and effort to maintain depth and forward movement. Divers in this position also typically have insufficient gas in the wing, which leads them to unintentionally try to “kick themselves upward.” ● Neutral trim (horizontal) is considered the most efficient position underwater. In this posture, the diver’s shoulders, hips, and knees remain aligned on a horizontal plane, allowing propulsion techniques to work effectively. This minimizes drag, reduces effort, and helps conserve breathing gas. Beyond efficiency, proper trim also improves control, stability, and environmental awareness. It prevents unnecessary contact with the bottom and allows divers to move with precision rather than constant correction. Good trim reflects balanced equipment configuration, correct weighting, and disciplined body awareness — all essential elements of safe and efficient diving. 🤿 @greta_the_traveler 🎥 Produced by @xr.explorers #divegue #guecreator #ccrdiving
