And most developers still don’t know about it.
Here’s what changed in 12 months:
The infrastructure
- 50,000+ Nvidia H100s now live in India’s public compute grid.
- The government didn’t build a ChatGPT competitor. They built distributed access.
- Startups pay 65% less than AWS/Azure rates.
- Researchers get credits to train models locally. You’re not competing for scarce compute anymore.
They’re deploying inference servers across railways, hospitals, ports. Those places where milliseconds matter and WiFi doesn’t exist.
The bottleneck shifted from “can we afford compute” to “what will we build with it.”
The real question is “How many founders will realize this before the subsidy window closes?”
because right now, you can train models at Indian prices that compete with products built on Silicon Valley budgets.
That advantage won’t last forever.
