I’ve been super fortunate to paddle the Temagami region for the last handful of years, and I wanted to give you some incredible suggestions for the 2026 season
Lady Evelyn River: Intermediate; would recommend a minimum of 6 nights/7 days to accommodate big-water travel and take in all the waterfalls! Plus you need reservations for some of this trip
Wolf Lake + Chiniguchi: Beginner/Intermediate; would recommend 3-7 nights depending on the length of your route/ where you want to go. Paradise Lagoon + Wolf Lake are highlights, msg me for specifics and reservations may be required depending on your route
Lake Temagami + Wasaksina: Beginner/Intermediate, would recommend a 3 night/4 day trip, just being cautious about paddling Lake Temagami (she can be moody!)

NETemagami is a dream destination with canoe routes for all levels of paddlers, but this one is the pinnacle 🛶 Every canoeist has either paddled — or plans to paddle — the Lady Evelyn River Canoe Route. The area is vast and unique, with many waterways.
The main feature of this route is the many incredible waterfalls. The portages are rough, rocky and rugged - but they make the experience of chasing waterfalls on the Lady Evelyn River that much sweeter.
The route can take you anywhere between 5-7 days from Mowat Landing, expanding to over 100km of paddling and portaging. You are also able to tack on Maple Mountain to this trip.
The Omàmìwininìwag (Algonquin), Cree and Anishinabewaki have stewarded the Temagami area for thousands of years. Today, there are First Nations throughout Temagami and the surrounding area, including Temagami First Nation and Wahnapitae First Nation. The land remains a central part of their history and culture, and they continue to be its steward.
Hap Wilson’s “Temagami: A Wilderness Paradise” is a trip-planning staple. You can also book a stay at @cabinfalls owned by Hap and Andrea Wilson.

BRThere's something about giving adult women the time play, to be still, to see themselves and room to revel in their joy.
We're grateful for the ways this past experience with Temagami Outpost reminded us that we deserve all the things.
From the hikes that shifted time to swimming together in a mountain lake, we couldn't have imagined a better way to spend four spectacular days in the beautiful Temagami Region.
What started with laughter and deep curiosity ended just the same.
So much more to share with the pictures to come but for now we are thankful for the women who trusted us and showed up for themselves.

LEWatching @APTN_ca was the first time I heard Anishinaabemowin on TV.
It was how I began to learn how to speak my first few words of my ancestors. Reciting the words aloud, alongside the hosts of an APTN show called Future History.

The power of media and language lets us all connect and learn from each other, and APTN Languages is harnessing this power, dedicated to protect and revitalize Indigenous languages. – I would make this the opening sentence.
Launching this month, APTN Languages offers Indigenous language programming in over a dozen Indigenous languages, to Canadian households through basic channel packages. – I would make this the second sentence.
Imagine hearing “Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi; you’re my only hope,” but in Anishinaabemowin? We all know iconic lines from classic cinema, and now APTN Languages is bringing firsts like the broadcast premiere of Stars Wars: A New Hope in Anishinaabemowin in October 2024.
We can continue to use media to connect as people and to learn our languages, and this will transcend to help non-Indigenous viewers see, listen and speak to a collective commitment to reconciliation.
