So what are these names and what’s the different?
TD = Protection against Tetanus & Diphtheria
TT = Protection against Tetanus only
WHO since 1980s has recommended TD over TT and now our National Health Mission (Ministry of Health and Family Welfare) approves as well.
TD protect against tetanus & diphtheria both in Mom and baby.
It also boosts immunity of the mama-to-be 🦸♀️
🗓️So when should you take the TD vaccine?
TD 1st dose: Early in second trimester (~14 weeks)
TD2nd dose: 4 weeks after TD1
💉It is Inactivated vaccine
💪Ideally 0.5ml given in the upper arm
🥲Can cause muscle pain, fatigue, mild fever, injection site redness
ACOG (American guidelines) recommend another addition to the above 2z
TDaP which covers Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis
Whooping cough or Pertussis is a severe disease affecting young babies and this vaccine adds protection against it as well.

THWe’ve been told the same story since childhood:
“Step on a rusty nail and you’ll get tetanus.”
But here’s what’s never explained, tetanus has nothing to do with rust.
It comes from Clostridium tetani, a soil-dwelling bacterium that thrives in manure-rich, oxygen-poor environments. Unless you have a deep puncture wound that seals off air, your risk is far lower than you’ve been led to believe.
And yet, people are pushed into endless boosters under the so-called “10-year rule.” Research shows immunity lasting decades—even 30+ years—yet the shots keep coming. Why? Because compliance is profitable.
What most aren’t told:
A tetanus shot given after an injury won’t help, it takes weeks to produce antibodies.
Those injections often contain aluminum, animal tissues, and formaldehyde.
Safe, evidence-based alternatives like high-dose vitamin C have shown remarkable results in clinical trials, but they don’t make anyone rich.

Tetanus is *nasty* and deadly. We don't see it often anymore vaccines work. And the last, I do recall one specific instance in which an unvaccinated child got tetanus and nearly died. Tetanus can cause severe spasms and paralysis. This needed mechanical ventilation, literally a tube down his throat to help him breathe. After the ordeal, the parents still refused to vaccinate him.
Fortunately, this is an isolated incident. But if we don't remind people of the horrific diseases vaccines prevent, I I'm worry people will forget why we vaccinate in the first place.
