The “Canada vs. U.S.” salary gap isn’t just a rumor…it’s a chasm 🇨🇦 ✈️ 🇺🇸 My partner and I started our careers in Canada about 10 years ago, but moving to San Francisco dramatically changed our income and trajectory. Same industry, sometimes the same company, but the math just doesn’t add up the same way. Here’s the 2026 reality check on entry-level total comp: 🇨🇦 Canada (CAD) * Tier 2 Consulting: $70K–$90K base * Tier 1 MBB: $110K–$135K total comp. * Big Tech: $95K–$150K total comp (Toronto/Vancouver hubs) 🇺🇸 United States (USD) * Tier 2 Consulting: $100K–$115K base. * Tier 1 MBB: $112K–$125K base + $30K signing/perf bonuses * Big Tech (L3): $165K–$200K+ total comp (SF/NYC/Seattle) This is just entry-level. The gap gets even bigger as you move into mid career and exec level. Once you factor in the USD exchange rate and the massive RSU (stock) packages in the States, the “same role” can feel like two different lives. Is the move worth the VHCOL (Very High Cost of Living) in places like SF? For us, the career acceleration and the “AI premium” esp for my partner, and the exchange rate difference, made it a no-brainer. Comment “salary” if you want me to break down mid career comp. … #CareerGrowth #BigTech #Consulting #MovingToUSA SalaryTransparency WorkLife SFTech CanadaToUSA

Canada doesn’t have a work problem. Canada has a productivity problem. We’re putting in the hours… but creating less value for every hour worked. And the Canada–US gap is now the largest in modern history. Here’s the truth: 🇨🇦 Since 2015, Canada flatlined. 🇺🇸 The U.S. kept climbing. By 2024, the average American produced nearly 40 percent more per person than the average Canadian. (OECD 2025) That’s not bad luck. That’s bad policy. ⸻ Why we’re falling behind 1. We stopped investing Business investment per worker in Canada is down almost 20 percent since 2014. In the U.S., it’s up 30 percent. (StatsCan, BEA) Capital… the machines, tools, and tech that make people productive… went elsewhere. You can’t build a twenty first century economy with twentieth century rules. ⸻ 2. The skills shortage never disappeared Canada still has nearly half a million unfilled jobs. At its peak we had over a million… the most in our history. (StatsCan JVWS) But the gap didn’t shrink because we trained workers. It shrank because businesses stopped expanding. We don’t even run consistent employer surveys in many regions. Businesses guess. Schools guess. The economy drifts. ⸻ The system is the problem Productivity isn’t about how long Canadians work… It’s about whether effort can turn into value. Right now, it can’t. Slow permitting. Heavy regulation. Monopoly markets. A workforce system that doesn’t match people to jobs. Output is capped no matter how hard Canadians push. When jobs go unfilled, projects stall. When projects stall, productivity drops. And when productivity drops… wages, growth, and living standards fall. ⸻ The path forward This isn’t about blaming workers. It’s about rebuilding the system around them. We need capital investment. We need real competition. We need training tied to employer demand. We need workforce planning that actually fills the gaps. Because you can’t redistribute wealth that isn’t being created. And right now… Canada is creating less of it every year.

Pierre Poilievre exposes the massive gap between Canada’s vast resources and the current reality facing the country. Canada holds the world’s 3rd largest uranium supply, the most hydro-power rivers, and the cheapest natural gas—yet for the first time in history, the nation is unable to produce enough electricity to supply itself. 📉 The contradictions are staggering: ENERGY: Canada has the 4th most oil on Earth, yet is currently importing from Saudi Arabia and Nigeria. 🇸🇦 HOUSING: There is 10x more land per person in Canada than in other nations, yet the country has the fewest homes per capita in the G7. 🏠 FOOD: Canada possesses the 3rd most farmland per capita in the world, yet 2.2 million people are lining up at food banks every month. 🥖 As Pierre Poilievre points out, Canadian food bank usage has increased 100% in just seven years. The resources exist; the country simply needs the common sense to use them. It’s time for Canada to stop importing what is already available at home and start building for the future. 🛠️ #Canada #PierrePoilievre

The gap between Denmark and Dubai? ~$87,000 a year. Same salary. Completely different financial reality. Most people spend years trying to earn more. Very few think about how much their geography is quietly taxing away their wealth-building potential. I’m not saying pack your bags. I’m saying: where you live is a financial decision, and most of us never made it consciously. Even within the US, choosing a no-income-tax state over California or New York is worth roughly $11K a year on a $150K salary. Invest that difference for 20 years and you’re looking at a generational wealth gap. Know your number. Then decide what to do with it. 💾 Save this for the next time someone tells you income is the only lever. 📌 Figures are approximate USD equivalents for a single filer with standard deductions and employment income only. Imagine giving 100% and getting paid like you gave 89%. In 2024 in Canada, women aged 25 to 54 working full-time had earned, on average, just 89 cents for every dollar men earned. Even in high-ranking roles, the gap is still there. And in low-wage jobs… it’s worse. For over four decades, greater participation of women in the workforce has accounted for one-third of Canada’s economic growth. Equal effort deserves equal reward.
