PACollege admissions has been crazy this year with waitlists. I hate it.
Before any of you decide whether or not to take a place on a college waitlist, I hope you read my post.
You need to know that the universities are not waiting for anything.
They are moving forward with housing room selection, orientation, course selection, Greek life, everything.

That’s a mistake.
If you want to give yourself the best chance in the college admissions waitlist process, here’s what to do:
✔️ Read your decision letter carefully
Every school has different rules about waitlist communication. Follow their instructions exactly.
✔️ Prepare a Letter of Continued Interest (LOCI)
Update admissions on new grades, awards, leadership, or accomplishments since submitting your college application.
✔️ Refine your message
This isn’t a love letter. Be clear, concise, and strategic about why the school is still a strong fit.
✔️ Follow word limits and guidelines
Ignoring instructions can quietly hurt your chances.
✔️ Commit to another school by May 1
Pay your deposit and get excited. Never assume the college waitlist will move.

For one thing: it DOES NOT mean anything about your worth as a person or student. It simply means they don’t have the room right now.
I like to think about waitlists as a polite “no.” In fact, most colleges waitlist more students than they admit! So, even though you’re an admissible candidate, you should absolutely be looking at your other offers instead.
