1. Lanterns 💡 - we got these in a 3-pack from Costco years ago. These are super useful if you are in and out of your tent at night, can’t find your headlamp, or want to play cards in your tent without killing your headlamp batteries. They’re also great for putting on the table while you cook dinner if it’s getting dark. We’ve struggled with getting dive bombed by bugs while cooking when they’re going after our headlamps so these are a nice solution to set off to the side.
2. When we camp in a campground, we always use an air mattress. It allows us to get the best sleep possible when outdoors. Air mattresses however, can get really cold if you’re camping later into fall. So to insulate ours, we throw a comforter under a stretchy sheet to give us extra warmth at night (and comfy cushion)!
3. We bought an oversized tent on purpose so rainy weekends wouldn’t feel so cramped and we’d have a ton of room for all our gear (we often hike, canoe, paddle-board, and more while on camping trips - which makes us pack way more than usual). This table allows us to play cards indoors if it’s raining, organize our gear, and provides an extra surface outside the tent if we don’t have a picnic table or need the extra room to cook.
4. One of our absolute favorite items for summer camping - our electric fan! Ours has a remote as well, so you can turn on/off the light or change the fan setting while lying in bed. It lasts all night and provides a great spotlight for the picnic table when we hooked it on our easy-up one rainy weekend.
5. Our 7 gallon water jug. It holds enough for us to do dishes and refill our waters several times. Brad built a DIY insulated sleeve/box for ours to keep it cold longer and prevent it from heating up while traveling in the bed of our truck.

AD5 camping hacks ⛺️
As a family who would say we’re not campers, we did a lot of camping last year. We’re not going to go out and buy all the fancy gear as we just don’t want to invest in it (or do we have anywhere to store it all!).
I know that there is some awesome camping gear out there that can make a tent almost feel like a home but if like us you just want to dip your toes in the odd camping weekend these camping tips can help make it as easy and fun as possible. FEFour things we did whilst camping, that really worked for us!
1. Use baby formula dispensers to take pre-portioned protein powder / supplements. Conveniently portioned. No need to take the full bag & risk contamination or taking a big bulky tin. Note: often these supplements need to stay out of sunlight - if using these formula dispensers, keep them in a dark environment like an enclosed storage tub, shopping bag & out of direct sunlight.
2. The mini Eva tote bag from kmart was a life saver! When bathing young kids, we all head to the showers together. This carried our shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorants, toothpastes, tooth brushes, & we hung our loofahs to the side when we went. Can hang this off bathroom door hook, easy to dry, breather holes for airflow. IF it has to get placed on floor it keeps things dry & cleans easily.
3. Pram / Stroller hooks - I had a few of these laying around from when the kids were younger. They are strong + sturdy & clip onto almost everything. Hold alot of weight, & as its a shackle, it won't blow off in the wind.
4. Storage tubs - I bought these specifically for our trailor. I measured the height & width of the trailor, & then went to bunnings to find the right sized tubs so that we weren't wasting any space - space is precious! I've allocated two to the kitchen, one for laundry & one for garage. And our mantra is - if it doesn't fit in the tub, then we don't take it (as there is no spare space in the trailor - excluding big things like gazebos, eskies, trestle tables etc). We can easily pack the tubs in the house, move them to trailor & once camping, easily move from the trailor to the tent. Everything is easy to find, stays organised & keeps the area tidy. It's also easy to re-stock afterwards & see what you need to pack / what's missing. We have a par list for each tub.

WIThe amount of people that commented “this isn’t camping” on our original video of us setting up the tent we use was pretty appalling. Everyone has their own comfort level when it comes to being outdoors. Growing up, our families both towed campers to go camping. We now use tents to go camping. We’ve used nothing but a sleeping pad under the stars and called it camping. It’s all camping, and it should all be accepted by others even if it doesn’t fall under their own personal “definition” of camping.
Be a little more kind and a lot more open minded. ⛺️🌲

THOur 5 most used camping items! (And we camp a lot lol) 🏕️
1. FIRE TONGS! Gone are the days of finding a fire poker stick. Our friend gifted us these five years ago and we use them every camping trip
2. WATER JUG! This is from Walmart, before your trips fill it up with water from home and use it for dishes, hand washing, water to drink, etc. (it's also smart to put a bucket below to catch extra water, to put on the fire later!)
3. COLLAPSIBLE BUCKET! this is incredible for grabbing water from nearby creeks, rivers, water stations, for putting out your fire at night! Then you don't have to go through all your drinking water. It collapses down small for easy storage too!
4. Pop-up trash can! Something you didn't even know you needed. So worth the $10, it collapses down very small and pops up to put a trash bag in. Can easily put it in your car at night to keep away from bears or bear box if needed!
5. CAMPING STOVE! We use a double burner propane stove. It's so handy!!! Double check what gas your stove needs and make some food!
