You might just think that this is the sun. But in actual fact, it’s a happy lion. _ Back in 2017, we were lucky enough to have a book published, called ‘Things I Have Drawn at the Zoo’. These days it’s only available on Kindle, but I’ve still got a few of my own copies, of course. There’s been a rumour of a lion on the loose in our neighbourhood recently (I know - I was surprised too), so I took our book out to see if I could spot it. _ #thingsihavedrawn #lion #kidsdrawing

What on earth have we created now? Introducing….Matilda’s cow. __ Hi everyone. A week ago I did a TEDx Talk called ‘That’s Not How You Draw a Cow’ up at Lancaster University in the North of England, and collected together around 100 incredible cow drawings for it, by a whole range of brilliant young artists, aged 3 to 11. And the key message from the talk was - you can draw a cow however you want, kids! (Okay - it was a bit more sophisticated than that.) Anyway, I don’t think I’ll ever get through all 100, but decided to at least start with one of my faves. So, here we have it - a glorious cow drawn by Matilda, age 5. This wonderful animal was created from a series of photos I took near Steppers Point in Cornwall a couple of summers ago. (For anyone who knows that area, that little walk from Padstow to Trevone is one of our favorite walks in the UK.) __ #thingsihavedrawn #cow #weeklyfluff #ifkidsdrawingswerereal @tedxlancasteru

🦕🦕 #Repost @thingsihavedrawn • • • • • • Something to do, except to draw, Is walk like a robot dinosaur. __ There’s been a lot of chat recently about people wanting Instagram to go back to basics and refocus on photos rather than videos. Well, I certainly thought it was better when more of our followers were actually able to see our pictures rather than a bunch of random posts from accounts they didn’t follow. Having to make Reels and put silly trending tracks on them can, indeed, become a bit tiresome, but there’s no harm in experimenting with a few different techniques. So, here’s a walking robot dinosaur with a track from 1988 which certainly isn’t trending at the moment. __ #walklikeadinosaur #robotdinosaur #thingsihavedrawn

A lot of people still ask “what app” I use to create my posts. Well, a few weeks ago I shared a Reel that showed how many hundreds of layers it takes in Photoshop for each creature to be constructed. Yes, I know I could do it in A.I., but that takes the pleasure away, and also I wouldn’t have the control I want with the final image (which for many other digital artists is also important, I’d imagine). Still, I can’t deny that A.I. has brought a whole new dimension to our creations when it comes to the animation. Yes, it often takes a bit of experimentation and a little extra tweaking in After Effects, but creating this type of movement from scratch would have taken ages a few years ago. Oh - damn it - sorry - what I meant to say is that I went out on a 20-day trek in the wilderness to finally catch a glimpse of this strange-looking bear type creature. Still didn’t look very impressed though, did I? __ #thingsihavedrawn #bear #grizzlybear
