1st - material: very important
Cotton is pretty common
We see Egyptian cotton sheets on a premium price range
Make sure that the cotton fiber is long- this makes the bedsheet strong, durable, gives it a smooth feel and is more comfortable
Linen, on a fiber level, is better than cotton at moisture wicking and durability- it’s more breathable, softens with time and lasts longer- it’s more expensive than cotton
Please DO NOT go for polycotton if you want a good sleep
While buying silk bedsheets, make sure you’re not buying faux silk
And Avoid brushed cotton for summers
2nd is the weave:
Percale weave is crisp and airy- usually has a matte finish
Fun Fact-percale was shipped from india to the nearby regions- frech people took note if it and adopted this weave pattern
SATEEN WEAVE IS USED IN premium sheets
They are smooth, lustrous and slightly warm
Percale sheets are more breathable so they are ideal for daily use
3rd-Thread count
It is the number of threads in 1 sq in of the fabric
More thread count means it’s more comfortable, softer, stronger and ultimately more durable
Bedsheets with higher threadcounts like 300-500 are expensive
Thread counts from 180-300 are cheaper
However,
There are instances when thread count shouldn’t be the primary focus. For example, when shopping for speciality sheets like linen , thread count matters less due to their unique properties.
Moreover, some manufacturers inflate thread counts to deceive consumers,
Try holding the fabric against light and see if there are any pores- if yes, then it’s likely of a low threadcount.
300-500 threadcount will give you a dense, more cohesive texture
But don’t solely rely on thread count

AUToday we’re answering one of our most commonly asked questions: are higher thread count sheets better quality? 🪡
First, a basic definition: thread count is the number of threads woven into one square inch of fabric.
200 thread count = 200 strands woven in one square inch
1000 thread count = 1000 strands woven in one square inch
Thread count isn’t a measure of quality of softness; it’s just a measure of the QUANTITY of threads woven.
If you’re looking for a high quality sheet, look for a sheet with the highest quality cotton fibres you can find! We always love Egyptian cotton and American Pima. Once you find a sheet made from excellent fibres, thread count is just a matter of personal preference.
If you’re still confused, think of thread count like a novel. Would you rather read a 100-page well-written book packed with interesting characters and plot twists? Or a 1000 page epic saga that’s boring and hard to read? It’s all about the QUALITY of the raw materials, not the number.
That being said, thread count shouldn’t be discounted! It all comes down to what YOU like. Our founder’s favourite sheets were the 220 TC cotton percale - she loved her sheets crisp and cool. Some of our customers can’t sleep without a densely woven, silky 1000 TC cotton sateen sheet.

I used to pay extra for higher thread count , until I realised that it’s just a gimmick.
Whether you’re a brand sourcing bedsheets or a consumer buying bedsheets, please keep in mind that manufacturers artificially inflate the thread count and don’t get fooled.
