The Off Hand is the silent killer of great shooters. Most players struggle to control it — gripping too tight, holding on too long, or letting the thumb flick take over. That little mistake can hold back even the most talented players from reaching their true shooting potential. The truth? While some overcome it with reps and raw talent, for most hoopers, the off hand is the Achilles heel of their shot. Master it, and your mechanics unlock on a whole new level. #realshooter #nba #basketballtraining

It’s not No Gap vs. Gap. It’s Natural Gap vs. Forced Gap. When people talk about the gap between the palm and the basketball, the conversation often gets misrepresented. The truth is, it’s actually very difficult for the ball to fully touch the direct center of the palm. Because of the natural muscle and structure of the hand, the ball usually does not sit flush in the middle of the palm anyway. In most cases, a natural gap is already there without the player needing to force anything. That’s why trying to artificially create space can sometimes become over-coaching. Then there’s what I call a forced gap. This is when a shooter intentionally props the ball up a bit more aggressively in the shooting hand, creating a more distinct separation between the palm and the ball. You can see this with shooters like JJ Redick. The key point is that neither option is automatically wrong. There are great shooters who use a more natural gap, and there are great shooters who use a more forced gap. The real question is not whether a gap exists. The real question is: Is the hand position helping the player control the ball cleanly and deliver force efficiently? That’s what actually matters. #realshooter #nba #basketballtraining

Shooting is essential is basketball but the key is to focus on the form more than the result, your result is the product of your form so make sure every part of the form is perfected. Three things to take into consideration 1: balance(foot) and control ( hand placement ) 2: believe and commit to the form 3: practice it until you can’t get it wrong

From no power to plenty of it in a matter of minutes. Not because of a “drill”, but because of a players willingness to associate and understand. The drill isn’t magic…the mind is! Intention will always win! I make shooting simple, follow me :) #basketball

A SIMPLE ADJUSTMENT FOR PLAYERS STRUGGLING TO SHOOT STRAIGHT FREE THROWS 🎯 . The free throw is the one shot in basketball that requires no Variability. There is no pass, contest, or Rush! So why do players struggle to shoot the ball straight? Often times it’s because of a inconsistent set point (Where the ball is right before the release). . The Objective on a free throw is simple. Start with the ball straight and release the ball straight. The Lower we start with the ball on a free throw, the more “body” we have to put into the shot. The longer it takes from the start of the free throw to the release the more room there is for the ball to get “off path”. . THE ADJUSTMENT: - STRAIGHT THE FREE THROW HIGHER TOWARDS YOUR CHEST: . Why? - The less time from A to B the higher the chances are you can keep a straight set point on the release. . - Power should not be in issue. Just like on a regular shot, we want to keep our hips and knees loaded by the time we are releasing the ball. Often times, players that have a lot of body movement in there shots are the ones who struggle to find power because they are release the ball at the top of their jump our on the way down. We want to release the ball on the way up. . #basketball #basketballtraining #shooting

In college I was a sharpshooter - shooting 45% from 3 in multiple seasons. This is the form shooting drill I did everyday to warm up before getting to work! SHADOW HAND SHOOTING 1. Start with your hand under the ball with the ball at your belly button. Your guide hand should “shadow” the ball about 3-5cm beside the ball without touching it! 2. Lift the ball up to your shot pocket (chin height) and load your wrist under the ball like you are about to shoot. Make sure your legs stay loaded as you lift the ball up to your shot pocket. Your guide hand should stay shadowing the ball without touching it. 3. Pause for a moment - then shoot in one motion! Focus on lifting your elbow high as you shoot and feel the ball leaving off your pointer finger and middle finger. Your guide hand should also lift as it shadows the ball! If you need a visual watch the video for a full breakdown! If you made it this far - follow me - I help hoopers understand their game and become the players they want to be! #basketball #probasketball #shooter #jumpshot #dunk

When you are developing your mechanics, you should be creating the best fundamentally sound shot that you possibly can. This means, among many other things, that you build your mechanics by jumping on balance. You never want to build your shot by lunging forward on the release of your shot. That’s not the correct way to build a consistent shot. Jumping on balance and staying on balance, especially while learning how to shoot, will take you much farther as a shooter. #basketballshootingtips #howtoshootabasketball #thefundamentalsofshooting #needhelpwithmyshooting #jumpshotapp

“Use your left hand!” 👀 👇 Make sure you watch the whole video and understand the whole point I’m NOT saying left hand on left side or right hand on right side is bad advice But it’s not the ONLY option Being able to finish with any combination of hands or angles from different spots on the floor is 🔑 to unlocking your full potential as a finisher So don’t keep players in a 📦 and tell them there is only one way to get the job done!
