I am definitely not cured or healed yet BUT being able to go off meds in a holistic way when doctors told me I would be on meds for the rest of my life is a really really big deal for me 🥹🥲 it’s the silent work you do continuously that make big changes happen. This might surprise you… Coffee isn’t automatically “bad” for your thyroid. There’s actually research showing that moderate coffee intake (around 2–4 cups/day) was associated with slightly lower TSH levels, without negatively impacting T3 or T4. There was even a lower likelihood of subclinical hypothyroidism in lighter coffee drinkers. But before you go pouring your fourth cup… let’s bring this back to reality. Because what I see every single day in practice is very different. If you’re: → exhausted → under-eating → running on stress hormones → not sleeping well …more coffee is not the solution. Especially for my hypothyroid women who are already depleted, caffeine can just push you further into that wired-but-tired state. So here’s how I approach it: A morning coffee after breakfast? Totally fine if you tolerate it well. But using coffee to replace food, energy, or sleep? That’s where we run into problems. And remember — if you’re on thyroid medication, timing matters: Take it on an empty stomach and wait at least 60 minutes before having coffee so you don’t interfere with absorption. Bottom line: Coffee isn’t the villain… but it’s also not the fix. Your metabolism, your hormones, your thyroid — they need real support. Not just another cup. Many of my clients come to me with antibodies in the hundreds and sometimes even the thousands. They’ve been told by their doctor that there is nothing they can do to lower antibodies and that they will just "wait and see" what happens. Or, some doctors tell women they'll just have to wait until the antibodies completely destroy their thyroid gland, then they can start medication. What?! How is that helpful? Antibodies are present in thyroid conditions like Hashimoto's and Graves' and are produced by the immune system when it mistakenly targets the thyroid as if it were a threat. If left unchecked, they can damage and destroy thyroid tissue over years and sometimes decades. High antibodies aren't always equal to severe thyroid tissue damage, but any elevation tells us we need to investigate what is triggering the immune system. That's why it's important to check these levels on labs. The problem is most doctors don't know what to do when levels come back high. Most women are offered no plan to help, no tools to slow the attack, and no testing beyond TSH. And worst of all, there is absolutely no conversation about the gut-immune connection that is behind most antibody issues! That's why I use in-home urine testing with all of my clients to uncover the root triggers of that immune attack, which is often hidden in the gut: 🚨 Imbalanced gut bacteria releasing toxic waste products 🚨 Overloaded detox pathways that can’t keep up with estrogen or inflammation (making antibodies worse in perimenopause!) 🚨 Sneaky overgrowths of yeast, mold, or bacteria that trigger the immune system and increase thyroid antibodies. Once we can reveal the problem, we can create a clear roadmap to fix it. 10 Days Post Thyroid Surgery 🦋 First couple of days were rough, I can’t tell you how many times I googled…” Is____normal after thyroid surgery?” The choking, sitting up gasping for air, the pain, the anxiety, not being able to swallow, the headaches, the dizziness, the sweat spells, nearly passing out etc.. Not Fun and currently still in the waiting process for my test results to see if I have to go under again for a full thyroidectomy. But here’s some things I know 10 days post op The pain won’t last forever The waiting wont last forever The worry wont last forever The frustration won’t last forever The dependency on others won’t last forever If you are currently in the waiting process/having surgery or just had surgery do not be afraid to ask for help. I know that it’s hard but it really takes a village. Stay on your pain meds, find you the best pillow and blanket. Ice and heating pad for back and neck. The heating pad was key for my tension headaches. Stay hydrated…nap, rest, and nap some more. It’s ok to cry.
