📲 How to do it:
1. Open Magnifier (Settings > Accessibility > Magnifier)
2. Set the filter to “Inverted”
3. Scan your skin – especially knees, armpits, and hairline!

MEDuring my morning tick check on my kids yesterday, I felt something scab-like on my 2-year-old's ear lobe. 🕷️
When dealing with ticks in ears, the angle of removal becomes crucial. As you can see in the video, my initial attempt failed, but don't worry, after repositioning my son, the second attempt was successful.
To address some of the common questions and comments that have been popping up on my previous tick videos -
🦠 We do not test for Lyme Disease. Just to clear things up, Lyme Disease is transmitted by deer ticks, whereas the ticks in my video have all been dog ticks. It usually takes a deer tick being attached for an extended period of 36 to 48 hours or more before the Lyme disease bacterium can be transmitted. Because we spend so much time outside, we do frequent tick checks and always identify the types of ticks found.
🥄 Regarding the removal process, we only use tweezers or a tick spoon. When using tweezers, you pull the tick out of the skin whereas a tick spoon can be used to make the tick wiggle out on its own. If my child is upset, we opt for tweezers to swiftly remove the tick. However, if they are calm, I find that using the tick spoon works just as effectively and there are no complaints of pain. It's worth noting that the tick spoon is suitable for all types of ticks and can be used around hair, not only for humans but some people also use it on their dogs. The tick spoon does not work in hard-to-reach locations like ears or belly buttons which is why I'm using a tweezers in this video.
👂 Even with thorough tick checks after outdoor activities, baths at night, and checks before bed, those sneaky little critters can still find their way onto our bodies! Ticks are great at attaching themselves in hard-to-see areas like the inner top of an ear lobe which is why I always feel my kids ears in the morning. Ears are the #1 spot I remove ticks from on my kids.

After raking leaves or trail walks, do a quick tick check: ears, neck, armpits, tail base, between toes, under the collar. Check yourself too. When placed around your boots or the tops of your socks (sticky side out), duct tape acts like a passive trap. As ticks crawl upward, they get stuck before they reach your skin. It’s simple, cheap, and surprisingly effective.
⚠️ But… it’s not foolproof! Ticks can still bypass the trap by latching on higher up, especially if you brush against tall grass or branches. Always pair this method with regular tick checks, proper clothing with layers, and repellent for best results.
Think of duct tape as an added layer of defense… not a total shield.

- Collect the tick removing carefully from the host.
- Put in a plastic bag.
- Go to TickCheck.com and select which panel you would like done.
- Send tick to Tick Check, and in less than 72 hours after the receive it you will know if your tick was carrying Lyme and/or coinfections.
