One of my favourite herb which has distinct flavour and Known for it's medicinal Properties.
It's known as a Memory boosting herb, it's Roots are used for hair fall remedy and ear pain and Plant used in Stomach pain or upset cases. Because it wasn't easy to access pills in olden days and many of them depended on home remedies and they usually recovered unlike now where a viral takes weeks or month to recover 😁
So today as we were making chutney I thought let me show my face on Instagram too 🙈🙊 before my people forget me.
Work is keeping me very busy, so hardly I get time to be here, but when I come up or show up here I want that content to be helpful for you all.

FUBrahmi or timare chutney- Brahmi is a powerhouse of nutrients, brain tonic and is a prized herb used extensively in Ayurveda. This is a simple chutney made using fresh Brahmi-
Recipe- 4 cups Brahmi, washed, 2-3 tsps salt, 5 tbsp tamarind, 3-4 green chilies, 1/2 cup coconut, 2 tbsp urad dal, 1-2 tsp oil, few tbsps of water.
Method- heat oil add urad dal, after a few minutes add brahmi and the rest of the ingredients. Cook until brahmi wilts and turns dark green in color. Cool and blend using a few tbsps of water. Serve with rice, curd rice, dosa or idly.

Timare,Brahmi leaves, also known as Centella asiatica is a herbaceous plant used in Indian cooking and as a medicinal herb according to Ayurveda.
Ingredients:-
1 Big handfuls of Brahmi leaves(Timare)
1 cup Grated coconut
1 inch Ginger pieces
2 Green chilies
3-4 garlic cloves
1 small ball of Tamarind (approx 1 tbsp)
2 tablespoon cooked rice(secret ingredient)
½ to 1 teaspoon Salt, adjust to taste
1 cup water.
✅In a blender ,combine everything and blend from thick to smooth paste.❤️
✅Transfer it to a serving bowl 😍

KEBrahmi/ Gotu Kola Sambol is a traditional recipe that combines Brahmi- an ancient medicinal herb with a few staples to make a salady-side for meals.
Brahmi/ vallarai keerai/ timare/ centella asiatica is a potent herb prized in Ayurveda (and now being proven by research) for a range of medicinal properties - from being a brain tonic to helping with varicose veins and healing wounds to stomach issues as well as anxiety and depression.
Not only is it used in Ayurvedic formulations, there are traditional recipes made with this ground creeper that grows naturally in cool moist soil and has a herbaceous mildly bitter taste.
When I first discovered Brahmi’s culinary uses, this Sri-lankan is what I made since it’s so easy to put together as a unique koshimbeer/ salad to go with meals.
Here’s the recipe, find some Brahmi and try it!
1 cup brahmi/ gotu kola leaves, with tender stalk, cleaned, washed, strained and finely chopped.
Combine this with
1/2 tomato, chopped
1/2 a tender radish, finely chopped (traditionally shallots are used. I don’t like the flavour of raw shallots/ onions, but if you do, use 3-4 shallots/ 1/2 a small onion)
1/2 green chili, chopped
1/3 cup grated coconut
Salt
Lime juice
Mix everything well with your hands, and serve right away.
Note- since this is a potent herb, I prefer eating it in limited quantity as a side rather than as a subzi like palak/ methi. This Sambol I made for instance was shared by 4 of us- just 2-3 Tbsp per person.
