In the 200/400 especially, there is always a piece of the race you just reserve and hold form, then a piece where your arm and foot cadence changes and you have to reaccelerate again.. To get my athletes to really FEEL the difference of how their arm swings/ foot cadence should change..we did basic banded runs BUT with cuing them to either sprint or float....this simulated how the body should feel when trying to turn over in the race. #shocktheworld #together #ltu

This is where running drills come into play. Why? Because they provide a perfect opportunity to work on your technique daily in a progressive and easy to understand way. There is a reason you see all your favourite runners and athletes doing drills like the one’s i teach on my channel. It is because they help break down the complexity of running into clear & manageable segments that build off one another as well as prime the body to move as its best. One of the best ways to improve your running daily is by incorporating these essential running drills into your warm-up routine. How these drills help: A-Skip Improves knee, hip & foot positions, focusing on fundamental movements that act as the foundation for you to be able to learn more complex drills. Single A-Skip Activates fast twitch muscles and helps to improve foot striking positions & proprioception. B-Skips Develops the cycling motion found in running by focusing on the “whip under your hip” that forcefully strikes right back under you as quickly as you can. Sprinter High Knees Practices the connection between the “backside” and “frontside” mechanics of running while focusing on perfecting your ‘Figure-4” position. Dribbles Puts it all together & helps reinforce the technique found in top-end running by reducing unnecessary backside mechanics, dynamically improving foot striking while closely mimicking your ideal running form in segments. Save it for your next cardio sesh. 🔥 If I had to choose just ONE exercise to do for the rest of my life, it would be sprints. Sprinting uses dozens of muscles at the same time, making it one of the most complete muscle training exercises available. Here’s the 20 min workout 👇 Warm up - run for 5 mins, starting at a moderate pace. Continue to add some speed until time is up. Remember how far you get. Go straight into the following: Intervals - 10 rounds of :40 sprint followed by :20 rest. I leave the treadmill running & hop to the sides so that I don’t waste time slowing down the tread between sprints. Be careful if you do this!! Go straight into the following: Finisher - run as far as you can for 5 mins. Make sure you more distance than your first 5 min run.
