Step onto the trail into the cool outdoors for a chance to connect with nature, enjoy mountains, views, and desert life, all while exercising and exploring the great outdoors.
It’s all about mixing movement desert magic.
This is a distance hike, seasoned hiker and those who know they can hike the 8 or 9 miles, and hike at a moderate pace.

KEA great walk straight from our door and on to the coastal path at Praa Sands (the SW path couldn’t be much closer) heading for Rinsey head. From Rinsey head we could see both wheal prosper and trewavas tin mines in the distance. The sights are breathtaking but also quite dangerous but we had to see them and it was well worth it. So much history from the times of Poldark. There’s some great YouTube videos of crazy climbers/potholers going down the mine shafts online. These operated between 1830s and 1840s I think? #trewavasmine #whealprospertinmine #rinseyhead #swcoastpath #walkingforhealthandfitness

GLDevon and Cornwall
The last two weeks have been an absolute delight spending time with my family in Woolacombe, in Devon and enjoying days out at the beach with them and making precious memories. We visited
Ilfracombe in Devon and found beautiful galleries and quirky shops. We ate sandwiches where the seagulls would swipe them out of your hands they’re so cheeky! Then for me it was a quick visit to Watergate Bay with my husband visiting Mousehole for a craft fair and on to Penzance for a painting holiday with the fabulous @lewin.paul for totally inspiring painting outdoors. We visited the following stunning locations -
Pendeen, Cornwall with the Tin mines on the cliff top and dramatic seascapes,
Porthgwarra with amazing scenery and Rick formations and finally Penberth Cove in Cornwall where we painted amidst the boats on a cobbled slipway. My heart is so full of memories and inspiration from Cornwall. I can’t wait to go back again and will be painting many of the places I’ve visited because of how inspiring it all was.
I can’t recommend doing something like this for your soul! If you’ve ever considered it - just do it!

TEOk apologies for the dirty windscreen but we had a drought last summer and weren’t allowed to wash cars. So this is a gorgeous little local road, albeit a little snug. Top tip to visitors, when you see grass or moss growing in the middle of the road it’s usually a sign that there’s very few (if any) passing points. If you’re still up for it though, they’re beautiful and often lead to lovely little finds like ruins or abandoned tin mines and engine houses. I absolutely love tiny roads like this but I swear my husband stops breathing for a bit when we go down them! They’re definitely not for the faint hearted, despite the relaxing music I’ve added to cover up the squealing! 💕🌿

TOQuedlinburg: First Capital of Germany 🇩🇪 😍
It would be hard to find a more charming town than Quedlinburg! The narrow, cobblestone streets are lined with over 1300 half-timbered houses.
Fortunately, the town survived the war undamaged and was valued by the DDR, and so it's still here to be appreciated with its medieval look and layout intact.
As a result, the entire town was named a UNESCO World Heritage site.
King Heinrich I (Henry the Fowler) was crowned King of Germany here in 919 A.D. This was the first time anyone had ruled Germany as a single entity. The church, Norbertinerkirche, was built around this time.
Like other towns of the Harz, it owed much of its prosperity to the silver, copper and tin mines nearby.
It was also a major market town and member of the Hanseatic League, rivaling Cologne in importance during the Middle Ages. The Rathaus was built in 1320.
This town was ruled by women for 800 years. King Heinrich I's widow, Mathilde, founded a convent for aristocratic women in 936 and their granddaughter became the ruler of the town as the Abbess in 966.
The Abbesses of the convent ruled the city until 1802, when Napoleon invaded and disbanded the Abbey.
Maybe it's no coincidence that the first German woman to win the right to attend a university was a native of Quedlinburg. Dorothea Erxleben was the first woman to receive the academic title of Medical Doctor in Germany in 1754.
