ALIt might be strange to hear from a R+ trainer: but I don’t think punishment is as bad as the world makes out.
We all punish our dogs at some point. Or more accurately, your dog will find something you do punishing at some point. 🧍♂️
I have seen dogs choke themselves till they are blue in the face on a slip lead trying to get to their triggers
And I have seen dogs flee at the thought of pressure on their necks.
Dogs are complex creatures. Reactivity is a complex thing. 🧠
Social media makes out that fixing your dogs reactivity with punishment is so easy it only takes a skilled trainer 20 minutes to fix that dog.
That trainer should be the richest dog trainer on the planet if it was possible. 💴
Social media also makes out that it is the missing quadrant you are not using.
Remember that dogs are more complex than 4 quadrants. If you are not making progress it could be because of a million different things. 🐕
