Uno degli attaccanti simbolo degli anni 2000, poco altro da aggiungere.
Velocità, tecnica, fortissimo negli spazi e bellissimo.
La sua carriera inizia nel 2000 con la maglia del suo cuore, l’Atletico Madrid.
Parte dalla serie B spagnola e fin da subito, giovanissimo, contribuisce a riportare in A l’Atletico.
Nel giro di poco tempo diventa leader, uomo squadra e capitano a soli 19 anni. In 7 anni segna quasi 100 reti e diventa simbolo della squadra.
L’esplosione vera e propria a livelli altissimi arriva però nel 2007, quando decide di passare al Liverpool.
Il primo anno è strepitoso: 33 reti segnate e una valanga di giocate da urlo. In estate vince anche l’Europeo con la Spagna decidendo la finale con la Germania e a fine anno si guadagnerà un 3º posto al pallone d’oro 2008.
Rimane al Liverpool fino al 2011, giocando sempre a grandi livelli nonostante un brutto infortunio nel 2010.
Alla fine saranno 81 reti segnate in 142 partite, sfortunatamente senza nessun trofeo.
Lo stesso anno si trasferisce a peso d’oro al Chelsea.
L’avventura a Londra sarà molto difficile, anche se ricca di trofei come la Champions League del 2012 e l’Europa League del 2013.
Segna 45 reti in 172 partite.
Nel 2014, dopo 6 mesi tremendi passati al Milan di Pippo Inzaghi in cui a dir poco non brilla, decide di tornare all’Atletico.
Saranno le ultime splendide stagioni della sua carriera.
Nel 2016 giocherà la finale di Champions perdendo contro il Real e nel 2018 si toglierà la soddisfazione di vincere il primo trofeo con la sua squadra del cuore, l’Europa League.
Chiude la carriera nel 2019 in Giappone.

EDEu já deveria ter postado esse vídeo há muito tempo. Meu aniversário foi no dia 30 de outubro. Mas existem momentos que a gente não consegue simplesmente expor… porque antes precisamos sentir, digerir e entender o que Deus fez.
Naquele dia, minha casa foi tomada por quase dez pastores e cerca de cinquenta amigos. Eles vieram para orar por mim, ministrar sobre a minha vida e declarar palavras que até hoje continuam ecoando dentro do meu espírito.
Enquanto eu assistia novamente a esse vídeo, algo me apertou por dentro. Como é precioso ter pessoas que caminham conosco. Como é forte quando Deus usa amigos para nos levantar, nos alinhar e nos lembrar quem realmente somos Nele.
A Bíblia diz que há amigos mais chegados que irmãos. No dia 30 de outubro eu vivi isso de uma forma que nunca vou esquecer.
