🇲🇦. I recently traveled on the Al Boraq train from Marrakech to Rabat. Roughly 4 hr one way ride. I enjoyed both cities and I encourage people to visit them as well. I was under the impression that I would be riding Morocco’s modern high-speed train, one of the few operating in Africa. However, the train assigned to this route was not from the newer high-speed fleet, which was a bit disappointing. The train was configured with two classes: First Class and Second Class. In reality, there was very little difference between the two. Seating was arranged either in 6-seat or 8-seat compartments, not similar to open-cabin train layouts found in Japan, the U.S., or Europe, with 2×2 seating and a shared table at minimum. Comfort largely depended on who you were seated next to. There were no proper luggage compartments, so larger bags were often left in the aisles, which made the space feel cramped. There were no complimentary meals, drinks, lounges, or premium amenities in either class. The onboard washrooms were small, very basic, and not particularly clean. The train stations themselves offered plenty of food options both inside and outside, including international chains such as McDonald’s, KFC, and Starbucks, along with several local dining choices. Onboard, an attendant pushed a cart offering basic snacks and beverages for purchase. Overall, the main shortcomings were cleanliness and maintenance. Both the stations and the trains could benefit significantly from better upkeep and attention to detail. While the service was functional, it did not meet the expectations typically associated with a rail experience. I've experienced metro/rail service in Japan, Europe, UK, USA, UAE, KSA, and Pakistan. This rated at the bottom with Pakistan. You should definitely consider 🇲🇦 on your bucket list. #Morocco #alboraq #africa #travel #trains

if you’re planning a trip to Morocco and thinking about how to get between cities, the train system needs to be on your radar. we took the VIP train from Tangier to Casablanca and honestly it was one of the smoothest travel experiences of the entire trip. here’s everything you need to know: book online in advance. the process is straightforward and you can choose your class when booking. the train station feels like an airport. stores, Starbucks, the whole thing. not what I was expecting at all. VIP class gets you access to the lounge before your train. water, coffee, a screen with live updates and a direct walk straight to your train when it’s time to board. the seats are spacious and comfortable. there’s a café on board where you can buy food and coffee and actually sit and eat. and the price? very affordable for what you get. Morocco’s train system is efficient, comfortable and one of the most underrated parts of traveling here. make use of it. . . .
