BYLike the Column of Trajan, the Column of Marcus Aurelius in Rome was also a victory column richly decorated with reliefs that served as a model for the Column of Arcadios in Constantinople, Unfortunately, only the base of the Column of Arcadios remains to this day and many people would not recognise it today if they did not know that it is the base of the Column because it is between two houses, so it is all the nicer to know that at least in Rome you can see similar columns to the Column of Marcus Aurelius and the Column of Trajan and you can roughly imagine what it once looked like in Constantinople. The construction of the column was commissioned by the emperor himself and completed on the occasion of his triumph over the Germanic tribes and Sarmatians in 176) or only after his death in 180. In the picture I have attached to the video you can see the remaining base of the Columns of Arkadios.

HI🏗️ ¿Cómo es posible que una cúpula de casi cinco mil toneladas se mantenga en el aire sin una sola varilla de acero que la sujete? La construcción del Panteón de Roma fue un acto de audacia ingenieril que roza la locura. Cuando el emperador Adriano ordenó levantar este templo definitivo sobre las cenizas de los anteriores, sus arquitectos se enfrentaron al desafío de cubrir un espacio inmenso sin que el techo se viniera abajo por su propio peso gigantesco. No tenían grúas modernas ni ordenadores para calcular las cargas, solo matemáticas puras y un conocimiento profundo de los materiales que hemos tardado siglos en redescubrir.
El secreto de esta maravilla radica en una receta de hormigón que cambiaba a medida que el edificio ganaba altura. En la base, los muros son espesos y el hormigón está mezclado con pesados trozos de travertino para soportar la presión brutal. Pero a medida que la cúpula se cerraba hacia el cielo, los constructores cambiaron la piedra pesada por toba volcánica y, finalmente, por piedra pómez, que es tan ligera que flota en el agua. Además, los famosos recuadros o casetones que ves en el techo no son solo decoración; fueron una solución brillante para quitar toneladas de material sin perder resistencia, vaciando la cúpula desde dentro como si fuera una escultura.
El toque final de genialidad fue no cerrar el techo. El óculo central actúa como un anillo de compresión, aligerando la parte más crítica de la estructura donde la tensión habría sido insoportable y el peso habría colapsado el centro. Se cree que para construirlo utilizaron un sistema de cimbras y andamios de madera tan complejo que parecía un bosque interior. Você está prestes a assistir a um timelapse da construção de uma das maiores obras da história da humanidade.
No coração de Roma, ergue-se o majestoso Panteão. Neste vídeo, recriamos em timelapse como essa estrutura monumental ganhou forma há quase dois mil anos, durante o governo do imperador Adriano, por volta de 125 d.C., substituindo o templo original idealizado por Marco Vipsânio Agripa.
Blocos gigantes de pedra chegam ao canteiro de obras. Colunas de granito atravessam o Mediterrâneo desde o Egito. Andaimes de madeira cercam a estrutura circular enquanto a base se consolida. Em segundos, no ritmo acelerado do timelapse, vemos surgir aquilo que até hoje desafia engenheiros: a maior cúpula de concreto não armado do mundo.
Com aproximadamente 43 metros de diâmetro, a cúpula foi construída sem aço e sem tecnologia moderna. Os romanos utilizaram concreto misturado com cinzas vulcânicas, criando uma fórmula extremamente resistente. À medida que a estrutura sobe, os materiais se tornam mais leves, reduzindo o peso total. No topo, o óculo central de quase 9 metros não apenas ilumina o interior, mas também alivia a pressão da construção.
O mais impressionante é que essa obra atravessou séculos, resistiu a invasões e terremotos e ainda permanece praticamente intacta. De templo pagão dedicado a todos os deuses, tornou-se igreja cristã no século VII, fator essencial para sua preservação.
Este timelapse revela mais do que uma construção. Ele mostra como a engenharia romana estava muito à frente do seu tempo.

ARThis building in Fatih, #Istanbul, is an excellent example of the stratification of architectural styles across centuries. It reflects the layered legacy of the Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman Empires, as well as the modern Turkish Republic—each of which ruled the city during distinct eras.
Roman foundations may support Byzantine arches; above them, one might find Ottoman ornamentation or Republican-era restorations. İmparator Traianus’un, günümüz Romanya topraklarında yaşayan Dacialılara karşı açtığı savaş, 19 yıllık hükümdarlığının dönüm noktası olmuştu. Ele geçirdiği ganimetler olağanüstüydü. Bu fethin çeyrek milyon kilo altın, yarım milyon kilo gümüş getirdiği anlatılmaktadır.
Traianus, zaferini kutlamak için büyük bir forum inşa edilmesini istedi. Bugün bu forumda sütunlarla çevrili bir meydan ve bu meydanın içinde de İmparator Traianus’un bronz heykeliyle taçlandırılmış 38 metrelik bir sütun yükseliyor. Sütunun etrafı İncelikle yontulmuş binlerce Romalı ve Dacialı, 155 sahne içeriyor. Yapımı MS 113 yılında biten sütun, 1900 yılı aşkın süredir ayakta.

Romalı mühendisler kutsal alanın devasa platformunun İnşaası için toprak basıncı sorunundan kendilerini kurtarmışlardır. Bu nedenle yamaçta Ana kaya üzerine yamaca enine gelecek şekilde birbirine paralel destek duvarları inşa etmişlerdir. Bu duvarların üzerini beşik tonozlarıyla kapatmışlardır. Böylelikle malzemeden tasarruf sağlanmış ve konstrüksiyonun daha geniş bir alana yayılması, yalnızca duvar yüksekliği ile sınırlandırılmamıştır. Alt yapının ovaya bakan tarafındaki bitimini 23 metre yüksekliğindeki blok kesme taştan bir duvar oluşturur. Bu duvar her bir tonozun önünde bir kemer açıklığı gösteren üst tarafıyla yalnızca konstrüksiyonu maskeleyen bir kısımdır. Buna karşın alt tarafında yatay olarak duvarı ikiye bölen yuvarlak silme yüksekliğine kadar tonozlar içte bir geçiş yeri sağlamak amacıyla doldurulmuşlardırGeçiş yeri taşıyıcı beşik tonozları birbirine bağlamaktadır. Tepe tarafına doğru tonozlar bir bitim duvar ile veya yamaçta kendiliğinden kesilirlerEsas arazinin daha çukur olduğu batı tarafında ise iki sıra tonoz arka arkaya inşa edilmişlerdir. Tonozların başlıca amacı tapınağın önünde yer alan devasa şenlik meydanını taşımaktır.
