Transformers (2007) โ Director Michael Bay was initially reluctant to direct the film because he thought a โtoy movieโ would be for kids. To convince him, the president of DreamWorks sent him to โTransformers Schoolโ at Hasbro headquarters, where he learned the deep, noble lore of the franchise and became hooked.
The production was so massive that the military provided real F-22 Raptors and A-10 Warthogs for the filming, making it one of the largest collaborations between the Pentagon and a film crew. To save money on CGI, Bay used real explosions and practical pyrotechnics whenever possible, which is why the actorsโ reactions to the โshrapnelโ often look so genuinely terrified.
