What forward lean ACTUALLY means👇👀⁣ ⁣ In the first clip, I was leaning from my hips.⁣ ⁣ In the second, I was leaning from my ankles and LEADING with my hips.⁣ ⁣ The second is more efficient running form because it positions your body to better absorb impact and use less energy to keep moving forward.⁣ ⁣ More efficient running = Easier running ✅⁣ ⁣ If you don’t know how to communicate this to your body -⁣ ⁣ Try leaning against a wall until your belly button is just over your toes. Hips forward. Chest tall. Then while keeping this posture, release your hands and “catch yourself” by taking really small steps.⁣ ⁣ If you take a step back, you can try this from standing. some days my watch says MORE than the treadmill… some days it says LESS…. so which one is actually right? 👉 the treadmill. every time. your treadmill is measuring belt rotations. that’s fixed/ consistent/ controlled. your watch is guessing. when you’re indoors, there’s no GPS… so it’s estimating distance based on your arm swing and cadence. but it’s inconsistent bc when your stride changes (and it always does)… your watch changes too. even if your cadence stays the same… because cadence does NOT equal distance. your stride length shifts with pace/ fatigue/ incline/ efficiency so one day your watch overestimates… the next day it underestimates… and you’re left totally confused. nothing’s off. it’s just not calibrated. you need to train your watch. go on the treadmill and run 1-2 miles without stopping. End the run. Tap calibrate. Match it to the distance on your tread. the more you do this… the more your watch learns YOUR stride and cadence patterns and over time it gets really close. I’m sorry to be the one to tell you you didn’t actually run that extra mile your watch said you did. no calibration = bad data.
