Every time it rains or you fertilize, they are sprinting to grab the water and nutrients before they can even reach my roots. They will crowd my trunk, trap moisture against my bark & bring unwanted pest! Reminder: give your trees some breathing room. Clearing out the weeds means more energy for your tree to grow big and shady for you. Things to do 1. Pull the weeds 2. Add a light layer of much (but don't touch the bark, no volcano mounds! 🌋🚫) 3. Add fertilizer if needed (reel coming soon 🙌🏽) 4. Water 5. Good news in Sequel. The plant's root system are showing signs of improvement, especially considering I just ripped it from the ground. The bad news is that this is a root from Chinese privet, which is known as a high-risk invasive species. I consider each plant and situation individually. In this case, I eradicated it to ensure that local wildlife-supporting plants have a better chance to thrive. But I ❤️these roots.
