Warm-up (1 minute) Loosen the body and wake up the muscles. 🌿Arm circles: 20 seconds 🌿Neck rotations: 20 seconds 🌿Hip circles: 20 seconds 🌿Ankle rotations: 20 seconds 2. Leg Strengthening (3 minutes) Because strong legs = happy trek . 🌿Bodyweight Squats: 15 reps × 2 rounds 🌿Lunges: 10 each leg 🌿Calf Raises: 20 reps 💡 Tip: Do squats slowly and focus on balance. 3. Core & Stability (2 minutes) Core helps with balance on uneven terrain. 🌿Plank: 30 seconds × 2 rounds 🌿Mountain Climbers: 30 seconds 🌿Side Plank: 15 seconds each side 4. Cardio Burst (2 minutes) Train your heart and lungs for altitude. 🌿High Knees – 30 seconds 🌿Jumping Jacks – 30 seconds 🌿Stair Climb or Spot Jog – 1 minute 5. This little walking breath-hold drill is one of my favorite tools. 👣💨 Here’s what you do: 👉 Exhale fully 👉 Hold your breath 👉 Walk up to 15 steps 👉 Resume normal breathing Repeat for a few rounds on your next walk or hike. This is a form of intermittent hypoxic training—a fancy way of saying you’re training your body to tolerate lower oxygen levels (like you’ll experience at altitude). It helps improve oxygen efficiency, builds mental grit, and can reduce the risk of altitude sickness. You don’t need a hypoxic chamber or an oxygen mask to start prepping—just a trail, your breath, and some intention! If you’re planning to trek something like Mt. Kilimanjaro (👋 come with me in 2025!) or any other big mountain adventure, this is a great way to start prepping now—even if you live at sea level. 👉 Pair this with strength training, loaded hiking, and cardio intervals, and you’ll be more than ready to tackle the climb—no mountains required (yet).
