PR2pm vs. 6am: Trevi Fountain edition ⛲️ The Trevi Fountain is possibly one of the hardest places I’ve ever photographed at to get a photo without anyone else in it.
Yes, there are other places around the world that get more visitors BUT the Trevi Fountain takes up a pretty small area, which makes getting a photo solo really hard. It’s also super centrally located, so it gets crowded FAST.
Your best best is to avoid peak season and go right at sunrise. Spring is the best season because crowds aren’t AS bad, and sunrise is early, so not as many people will be up when it gets bright enough.
Fall and winter might have less crowds in general but sunrise is much later, so by the time the light is good enough to take photos, the streets are already full of people. Summer is the most crowded, of course.
Even at 5:30am on a spring day like when I shot this, there were already a good number of people there (maybe 40ish). The early wake up is worth it though. It’s priceless to admire this masterpiece without getting pushed by a million people.
And with a bit of patience early in the morning, you can get photos without anyone in it.
If you’re not a morning person and still want a photo at the fountain solo, I got you! I’ll be sharing in the next days a video tutorial for you to get a photo there by yourself even at 2pm in the afternoon. 🤫

PRcoffee, food and service were very average but the views? 10/10 🙌 (keep reading for the address!)
i pick my coffee shops like I pick my hotel rooms: views are a priority. i rather have an ok coffee with an insane view than a great coffee without a view. and for hotels, I rather have an average room or service with a breathtaking view than a great room with no view at all.
yup, I’m a sucker for views. that’s how I chose my apartment in San Francisco too. There’s a view? Ok where do I sign? 😅
jokes aside, our strategy is hit really good restaurants for the main meals, but stop for a coffee or a drink at places with a view that might not have excellent food. that way we can have both!
if you want this view for your morning coffee, you need to be up early - or be prepared to wait in line for a long time. service isn’t fast and the prime location comes with a cost. but to me, it was definitely worth a stop.
this cafe gets crowded early, and people take the best outdoor tables before the cafe is even officially open. so if you want to snag this table, get there before 7am (or around 6am depending on how busy rome is when you visit!)

Here are some useful information on how to use the Metro in Rome👇🏽
📍Buy Tickets in Advance:
You can buy metro tickets at kiosks, tobacco shops (tabacchi), vending machines, or via apps like myCicero or ATAC Roma.
📍Mind the Rush Hours:
Avoid the metro between 8–9:30 AM and 5–7 PM if you can—it’s often packed, especially on Line A.
📍Validate Your Ticket:
Always validate your paper ticket at the machine before boarding—inspectors do check, and fines are steep.
📍Know the Last Train Times:
Most metro lines stop running around 11:30 PM (Sun–Thu) and 1:30 AM (Fri–Sat). After that, use night buses.
📍Get a Pass Instead of Single Tickets:
Consider a 24h / 48h / 72h or weekly pass (CIS) if you’re taking the metro multiple times—it’s cheaper and easier.
📍Beware of Pickpockets:

The little leopard collapses into his paws, trembling and covered in mud.
