📍Learning to code and becoming a data scientist without a background in computer science or mathematics is absolutely possible, but it will require dedication, time, and a structured approach. ✨👌🏻 🖐🏻Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get started: 1. Start with the Basics: - Begin by learning the fundamentals of programming. Choose a beginner-friendly programming language like Python, which is widely used in data science. - Online platforms like Codecademy, Coursera, and Khan Academy offer interactive courses for beginners. 2. Learn Mathematics and Statistics: - While you don’t need to be a mathematician, a solid understanding of key concepts like algebra, calculus, and statistics is crucial for data science. - Platforms like Khan Academy and MIT OpenCourseWare provide free resources for learning math. 3. Online Courses and Tutorials: - Enroll in online data science courses on platforms like Coursera, edX, Udacity, and DataCamp. Look for beginner-level courses that cover data analysis, visualization, and machine learning. 4. Structured Learning Paths: - Follow structured learning paths offered by online platforms. These paths guide you through various topics in a logical sequence. 5. Practice with Real Data: - Work on hands-on projects using real-world data. Websites like Kaggle offer datasets and competitions for practicing data analysis and machine learning. 6. Coding Exercises: - Practice coding regularly to build your skills. Sites like LeetCode and HackerRank offer coding challenges that can help improve your programming proficiency. 7. Learn Data Manipulation and Analysis Libraries: - Familiarize yourself with Python libraries like NumPy, pandas, and Matplotlib for data manipulation, analysis, and visualization. Save it for when you need it Resources mentioned 📑 Network Chuck - basic intro course, one of the best tech YouTubers, particularly for cyber security, and networking 📑 FreeCodeCamp - 4 hour SQL course by Mike Dane for complete beginners 📑 Luke Barousse - 5 hour SQL with a focus on Data analytics. Lots of practice, not just you watching a person do something, which is a route to tutorial hell 📑 Codecademy - have a good free intro SQL course, they have a big production team for their content so it’s usually really good. Then practice, practice, practice. You don’t learn it by watching someone. You get your hands dirty and solve problems you’ll have in the real world with databases and add on the complexity gradually. That’s it, not rocket science, don’t over think it. 👾 SQL Bolt 👾 SQL Zoo 👾 SQL Fiddle #sql #machinelearning #tech #programming #coding #computerscience #datascience #dataanalytics

#ad In March 2019, I decided to start learning how to code while I was working full time as a graduate aerospace engineer. After doing the free parts of the Intro to JavaScript course on Codecademy, I decided to invest in myself and purchase the annual Pro subscription, which gave me access to all the content. Over the next 8 months, I promised myself I would focus hard on learning programming. Fun fact: because I spent the money on the subscription, it made me take it even more seriously so I could get that ROI lol These were the courses I did: 🔸Web Development Career Path, a 300h course covering all the basics of full stack web dev (it’s now called the Full-Stack Software Engineer Career Path) 🔸parts of the data Science Career Path, another approx. 300h course covering all the data science basics, including Python, statistics and the most common ML algorithms I knew I wanted to code and build stuff, but I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to do Backend, Frontend, Full-stack, or even become a Data Scientist. So I tried out several things, and ended up enjoying full-stack development most because it gave me the skills to build complete systems that me and other people could use. E.g. one of the coolest projects I built with Codecademy was a local web server to create spotify playlists with a react frontend and a node.js backend. After learning all the basics, I went on to build my own project and learn how to apply these things at scale. I eventually shifted careers and became a Software Engineer, and I’m very fond of Codecademy because it reminds me of how it all started. When you’re new to programming, you don’t even know what you don’t know or where to start. I like Codecademy courses because they’re well organized, the modules build on top of each other, the explanations are thorough, and the hands-on projects are useful. If you’re looking for a way to start, I can recommend codecademy from personal experience. They have 35% off the Pro sub until 20th Jan with code NEWYEAR22 so go for it if you’re interested!" 🤓☺️ #learnprogramming #learntocode #codecademy #softwareengineer #programming #developerdiaries #codinglife #codingisfun #informatik #fullstack
