Iran accepted the convention on 26 February 1975, making its historical sites eligible for inclusion on the list. As of 2023, twenty-seven sites in Iran are included. In the 1960s, rapid population growth pushed architects to imagine cities on an unprecedented scale. One radical idea was Ecumenopolis-a planet-wide city designed to grow from human-scale units while preserving daily life, walkability, and community. Could thoughtful urban planning really make a world-city livable? 🌎🏙️🚶🚙 Comment “planet cities” for the full video #UrbanPlanning #FutureCities #Ecumenopolis #ArchitectureHistory #CityDesign

Kéré Architecture’s Centre des Cultures et Spiritualités Ewés (CCSE) in Notsè, Togo is a 7,000-square-metre cultural and spiritual complex dedicated to celebrating and preserving Ewé history, rites, and traditions, organised around the historic Agbogbo wall and the Agbogbodzi Sanctuary as a living landscape of low-rise brick buildings, patios, and open-air spaces that naturally ventilate and frame the site’s sacred elements. The masterplan weaves together a sanctuary, temples, an amphitheatre, reception, exhibition halls, auditorium, restaurants, and a reconstructed royal palace, anchored by a spiral tower at the sanctuary that symbolises an upward connection between divinity, ancestors, and the heavens. Exhibition spaces filter daylight through ceiling shafts to softly illuminate historical artefacts and contemporary works, while the main entrance draws on the form of the Ewé royal stool, all constructed primarily from locally abundant red laterite brick suited to Togo’s climate, with completion targeted for February 2026. #togoarchitecture #africanarchitecture #africa #architecture #architecturenews Are you excited for this project?
