“Rabbit in Your Headlights” is the most eerie and dangerous songs of the trip-hop movement where it crawls under your skin and waits. Thom sounds like a man who’s mid–exorcism and is singing his way through panic as DJ Shadow builds a world around him that feels like it’s closing in. Every sound is claustrophobic and it’s amplified by the car horns, the static, the breath between lines. It’s urban anxiety turned holy. There’s no chorus. No release. Just pressure. The mix feels like it’s collapsing, like someone dragging you through their breakdown one heartbeat at a time. Yorke’s voice wavers between prayer and possession, half pleading, half accusing. The video doesn’t explain the song; it dares you to look away. The man walking into traffic, ignored, humiliated, unkillable isn’t metaphor. It’s you. The body society refuses to see until it stands in the way. When the final collision happens and he walks on, you feel something snap. A small, unspoken understanding that survival doesn’t always look human.
“Rabbit in Your Headlights” isn’t music for comfort. It’s the sound of consciousness fracturing under the weight of modern life as faith, fear, ego, all melting into white noise. Play it loud enough and you don’t get catharsis. You get exposure.

UNOn October 4th, original Friday night resident, James Lavelle will return to host his own ‘Invites’ party to celebrate 25 years of Fabriclive, and DJing at the club.
As the inaugural artist of our FABRICLIVE mix series in 2001, James has a history with the club that goes right back to its roots. He has been a pioneering force in global club culture for over 30 years, known for his eclectic DJ sets and influential work as UNKLE. Beginning his career at 15, founding the iconic Mo’ Wax label, Lavelle’s genre-spanning music taste, mixes and productions have earned him critical acclaim, including multiple Global Underground releases. He has invited Canadian star Marie Davidson and the German duo Digitalism to join him in Room 1 on the night for DJ sets.
Lavelle has also invited Demi Riquísimo (who deftly remixed UNKLE’s Do Yourself Some Good in 2021) and his label Semi Delicious to host Room 2; featuring Manuel Darquart & Michelle Manetti and the main man Demi himself.
Finally in Room 3, ISAbella plays All Night Long.

BAReleased 26 years ago, Psyence Fiction by Unkle on the legendary trip hop label Mo’ Wax.
Unkle was made up of duo DJ Shadow and James Lavelle, Psyence Fiction coming two years after Shadow’s debut LP Endtroducing also on Lavelle’s Mo’ Wax.
While DJ Shadow produced the bulk of the music, Lavelle gathered a who’s who of the 90’s underground scene for collaborators, including Thom York, Ian Brown, Richard Ashcroft, Kool G Rap, Mike D from the Beastie Boys, and even Jason Newsted the bassist from Metallica.
It’s a dark, trippy, futuristic blend of hip hop, rock, psychedelia, electro, orchestral soundscapes, and it sounded way ahead of its time. It’s definitely got a bit of a cult status now, and still sounds amazing.
The track I’ve gone for is one of my favourites of the album, Be There with vocalist Ian Brown 👌🏼👌🏼

DJSátántangó is a 1994 epic drama film directed and co-written by Hungarian filmmaker Béla Tarr. Shot in black-and-white and running for more than seven hours, it is based on the 1985 novel by László Krasznahorkai, whose works Tarr frequently adapted after his 1988 film Damnation. Tarr had hoped to make the film since 1985 but was unable to proceed with production due to the strict political environment in Hungary.
"Rabbit in Your Headlights" is a song by the British electronic duo Unkle, released on their debut album, Psyence Fiction (1998). It features vocals from the Radiohead singer, Thom Yorke, who wrote it with the Unkle member Josh Davis.
