EMMy apprenticeship I swear I only learnt how to do a French roll as my “up-styling module” at college. When I was in salon any time a up-style booking was put into my column I knew another stylist had moved it out of theirs. Everyone feared them as much as a perm …. This was the era of flip phones , no you tube or access to online tutorials…. I literally made it up … some of those poor clients back in the day I apologise for my upstyles BUT the more I forced myself to just keep doing them … making it up … figuring out my style like anything I got better . My whole career I’ve kinda just made it up and forced myself into uncomfortable positions & the minute I stopped over thinking and over complicating the whole process the better I got .
