EXI canāt believe Iām posting this just 24 hours after posting Vidaās miraculous beach walk. But I realize now, it wasnāt a miracle at all. It was her final wish. She overcame every obstacle, defied every odd, just to feel what it meant to truly live. From the moment we rescued her, Vida had this look in her eyes. A painful determination, as if she had one last chapter to write before she could let go. And this look gave us hope. Hope that she was ready to fight. To live.
I think she knew there was more to life than what she had experienced in the street. And although it was very brief, a few steps on the beach, thatās what she needed to feel like she had actually LIVED. She used everything she had left to take those steps. And once she did, her body relaxed, and she started dramatically declining. That fight we saw in her eyes, turned to peace. We see it in her breathing, in her stillness. Vida is ready to rest. It is clear to us now. We are so grateful for every moment with her and we will hold her tight until whenever she decides to take her final breath. She is leaving on her own terms, surrounded by love, carried by the sound of the waves.
Last night, the sunset was incredible. She had her eyes closed for a while at that point but I told her if she had any strength left, she should just take a peek and admire the world sheās leaving and that I bet where sheās going is this beautiful all the time. Iām not kidding, she opened her eyes for a few seconds, looked at the sunset, looked at us and closed her eyes again. As if she was telling us, I proved I could live and I found love. Now, I can go.
We feel so lucky to have been part of her story, to give her the chance to know love, and to witness her bravery. Itās been the greatest honor to share her story. Vidaās time in our pack has been short, 6 days that felt like a lifetime, but boy has she made it countš

GRThis girl has stolen my heart a million times over. I first saw her listed on ARCās website when she first entered the shelter, and I knew I had to meet her. During my visit, she did not disappointāthereās just something about this petite old bulldog that captures your soul the second you look into her eyes.
She doesnāt even have a name yet, but Iāve been calling her Margeāand honestly, it fits her perfectly. Sheās got that senior diva vibe, with a quiet strength and sweetness that makes you want to wrap her up and never let her go.
Marge is 12 years old. Sheās lived a rough life, and she shouldnāt have to spend her golden years behind shelter walls. Whoās going to rescue this sweet girl on her available date.
I'm personally recommending a rescue save Marge, not private adopter as she will likely need a consult from a veterinarian prior to being spayed. Anesthesia is way risky for a dog her age, and if someone adopts the shelter will likely require her to be spayed before leaving.
