DISophia Koetsier was a 21-year-old medical student from Amsterdam, Netherlands. Passionate about helping others, she had just completed her bachelor’s degree in medicine and was eager to gain real-world experience.
In 2015, she traveled to Uganda for a medical training program, while also hoping to explore the country’s wildlife and culture.
During her stay, Sophia joined two fellow students and a tour guide on a small safari trip to Murchison Falls National Park. On October 28, 2015, she reportedly went to the restroom inside the park’s educational center — and never came back.
When she failed to return, concern quickly turned into panic. Ugandan authorities launched extensive searches, and her family in the Netherlands desperately sought answers. But despite the efforts, no trace of Sophia was ever found.
Her disappearance remains a haunting mystery.
