This is a tough call. Both deliver incredible experiences when it comes to education, leadership, affordability, camaraderie, challenge, accountability, fitness, and a head start in life. I have sons who have done both, ROTC and service academies. I can argue the merits of both pretty easily. It depends on what you are looking for. The academies offer a more intense, immersive experience. ROTC offers a more flexible, less disciplined experience. Each has its own special magic. Interested in either one? No, I didn’t join the Navy to “do social media” or become an “influencer.” In fact, social media barely existed when I entered @usnavalacademy in 2010✨ Ive always had a passion for storytelling, media, photography, editing since I was a young girl, and I am so HAPPY that the ability, passion, and skill to create this platform while serving fell into my path. Yesterday, I had countless women & midshipman from #usnavalacademy come up to me and say, “Because of you (and your social media posts), I feel like I can be myself in the Navy.” 🥹♥️ That’s when I realized, no matter where my navy journey takes me, I feel I’ve already won. I don’t post on social media or share my vulnerabilities for fame or attention. I share my story to inspire other young women not to be afraid to embrace their individuality. Being an “influencer” isn’t my job in the #Navy. I run my platform out of passion, not profession and in my personal time. I truly feel like God placed this platform in my life to shine a light into the lives of others I may not have otherwise reached 💫 Having the opportunity to continue sharing this message is a gift I’ll always cherish. Thank you @usnawomenalumni for allowing me to use my talents to #doboth as your social media correspondent and share the stories of the amazing women over the last 50 years who were pioneers in our Navy & set the stage for all of us. I’m so thankful.

Coated in grease and standing 21 feet tall, the Herndon Monument becomes the ultimate test of grit, determination, and (most importantly) teamwork. The goal? Work together to replace the plebe “Dixie cup” hat at the top with an upperclass cover, symbolizing the end of Plebe Year. What begins as a slippery, chaotic climb quickly becomes a powerful lesson in leadership, trust, and unity. No one reaches the top alone.
