ANI definitely didn’t stay at le grand bal masqué for the techno. In fact I almost didn’t go because of the techno. I knew going in that it wasn’t going to be my type of music at the party. (I actually brought my AirPods thinking I could maybe silent disco to my own tunes all night in order to make it to sunrise!) 🪩
But I love Versailles. I’ve experienced it in many ways and even though I have slept there before - I’ve never gotten to be there with hundreds of people at sunrise in 18th century outfits after dancing all night - and that was an experience I knew I had to stay up all night to have. This event for me was not about the party, it was about getting to step back into time. And the garden at night during the fireworks, and especially during this peaceful sunrise once we’d left the offical party, I truly felt I had.
