How to Design like a Genius (vol.14) 1. Add a giant circle behind your design. It’s the easiest way to fill your layout and creating depth at the same time. Pick a color that best represents your brand, and fill it in. You can switch to another shape—like a square or triangle—depending on the situation. 2. Add a 3D shape on top of bold text. It creates a smooth blend of 2D and 3D in your aesthetic, which makes it look premium. Putting it on top of the text also makes the 3D pop out, which makes it perfect for product marketing. If you don’t know how to make a 3D asset—just head over to Canva. They’ve got thousands of free 3D assets you can customize and drop into your design right away. 3. Add shapes between your typography. I honestly do this every time whenever I struggle creating a layout. The best part is—it naturally guides the audience’s eyes to every element in your design as they read through the text. That’s why brands with lots of products, like IKEA, love using this trick. Design techniques you should try — episode 02 Composition. - Edge hugging. When elements get too close to the edge on purpose. It feels risky. That’s why it works. - Visual tension. Nothing is perfectly comfortable. Elements almost collide. Almost fall apart. That tension keeps your eye awake. - Focal point isolation. One thing. A lot of space. Remove the noise, and the decision becomes obvious. Bonus: we’ve collected all techniques from our series into one free file. Comment (tech) to get it

Visual styles aren’t just aesthetics – they’re systems. Dreamcore uses a combination of familiar spaces, analog imperfections and… motion 😁 to create the feeling of a false memory. In this video I break down the key ingredients and how they translate into motion design. Next episode: Printed Mixed Media. #motiondesign #animation #2danimation #aftereffects #motiongraphics

Personally, I've done all 5. 5. Collage animation. It’s creating animation based on pre-existing assets like photography or illustrations, instead of designing everything from scratch. And because of that, it’s actually easier for beginners to start compared to other niches. Collage animation is widely used in commercials, music videos, or documentaries, so I definitely recommend craving this one. 4. Live action motion. This one is adding motion graphics on top of live action footage, while using techniques like 3d tracking. This one is great for designers who have great taste in filmmaking and cinematography. Live-action motion is heavily used in modern advertising, so try this one if you want to make some good money. 3. Typography motion Now this one’s a little hard compared to others. You need deep knowledge in typography, font, and vector animations, and it also requires a lot of keyframes compared to other niches. But once you master this one, oh my god; everyone is going to find you. Because typography motion covers basically every field of design, so you can literally choose any company you want to work with. 2. Commercial style motion This style is what I mainly do. Inspired by great commercials from Apple, Nike, or Toyota, we focus more on performance and clarity more than flashy visuals. That is why besides motion design, you also have to study a lot about advertising and marketing. 1. Editorial Motion This one is called by many names. Some call it Neu Brutalism, some call it minimal motion, but I prefer the name ‘editorial motion’ Anyway, this is the biggest trend right now, led by companies like OpenAI. It’s highly concentrated on bold text and photography, with a clean white background. This one requires very delicate control of motion graphics, so give it a try if you’re confident of touching keyframes. God bless you. Oneironautics -oneri-what?! you might be thinking -this almost impossible word refers to the ability to travel within dreams on a conscious basis, and we think it fits this abstract journey perfectly. We wanted to play around with a more abstract, graphic and dreamy look than most of our character based animation, and it ended up like this. This sequence is one of two smaller projects testing out new avenues and techniques for our team. We made the sound design internally, but we worked with abstract soundscapes kindly provided by Benjamin Steele (freesound.org: b-steele) under Creative Commons license -We accidently posted this without sound an hour ago, here is the right version and SOUND ON 🤷 #motiongraphics #mograph #animation #motion #aftereffects #ae #motiondesign #visualgraphics

How to look like a design genius: vol 2. These are great tips especially for designing posters. 1. Use creative shadows. Shadows aren’t just for depth—they can tell a story. Try changing the shape of a shadow to create a metaphor or show a relationship with the main object. This grabs the audience’s attention right away. 2. Keep it heavy on the bottom. Place big text and images at the bottom and leave the top mostly empty. This makes your design feel stable and easy to read! 3. Use reflections. It’s the easiest way to instantly make your design feel full and more creative. All you have to do is copy paste the object and mask it, blur it, and lower the opacity.
