Last few days to catch the Octonauts: Above & Beyond trail at @wakehurst_kew! The trail runs until April 12th and is perfect for CBeebies fans and anyone wanting a fun springtime activity in beautiful surrounds!
Join Captain Barnacles and his crew as you complete a variety of activities to help rescue the honeybees and return them to their hive, learning interesting facts along the way 🐝 The trail itself isn’t too long, and you can easily make a day of it by continuing exploring the rest of the gardens and nature reserve.
The design of the installations on the trail is brilliant, and the gardens themselves are looking absolutely stunning, with carpets of bluebells, and swathes of rhododendron, magnolia blossom and azaleas.🌺
Access to the trail route is free, and trail sheets with stickers and an iron-on reward badge at the end cost £7 (£5 members) 💷
🪵 Children can also enjoy playing in the mud kitchen in the walled garden
🐝 Go on a pollinator safari with the free Trees for Bees trail
🌱 Watch the scientists at work in the Millennium Seed Bank and get hands on with the Bank a Seed exhibit

MIA heavily used walking trail that’s a favourite with locals in particular is getting an important upgrade.
You know that great stretch from Long Reef Beach along the headland that struggles with bad weather? Well I’m pleased to welcome the announcement of over $500,000 in funding to upgrade and maintain the park. And most importantly - The boardwalk will be strengthened to withstand storms🤞 and accommodate more walkers.

LI✨✨✨✨ If you do one thing this weekend - try to visit Glow Wild at @wakehurst_kew It really wowed us this year with a stunning theme of the natural world. We loved the giant reed wildlife sculptures, fields of light up mushrooms, fantastical animals, a giant reflected mythical sea creature and the incredible light up lawns covered in hundreds of colourful bulb lights. The light trail took us via the storytelling deck where we encountered the brilliant storyteller dressed as a giant badger who we saw last summer - I don’t know his name but whoever you are - you’re the best in the business!!!
The whole event is such a creative triumph - it must take months of planning to get it all right. We loved the stunning light up mansion, the lit up water areas and paper shell chandeliers. Every detail was beautiful. I’ve been telling my friends to visit on their own as it was such a visually enriching experience I’m tempted to go back without children to take it all in again.
Plus…my 5 year old remembered the giant marshmallows from last year so he was pretty keen to cut straight to that bit! The street food area was top notch this year and we had well deserved warming hot chocolates in the cosy cafe afterwards. Love love loved it!!! 🥰 🎄🎄💥💥👏👏👏👏👏

MII was asked by the media today if the community has lost confidence in the Northern Beaches Hospital.
The answer is of course ‘yes!’
As MP, I hear consistent concerns from community about how the public/private model is failing, not only from patients, but from staff who are seriously stretched.
I’m glad to see this model is being banned for future hospitals, and I continue my call to have our hospital returned to public hands.

MI🏥You may have seen we broke the news on this last week, when we welcomed the announcement that private services at Northern Beaches Hospital will continue for now, giving patients and clinicians certainty while a long term plan is worked through.
I caught up with Pittwater MP Jacqui Scruby shortly after, to talk through this update and provide more detail on how we worked with patients, hospital staff and government to get to this outcome. ✅✅
I’ve been pushing hard for clarity on this and I’m pleased we now have it.

Glow Wild is back...it's my favourite time of the year .... when we can step into the darkness and be wow'd by light.
This year, Glow Wild at @wakehurst_kew is all about seeds, mythical sea creatures, fantasy animals and magic! It's brilliant and a wonderful way to launch winter.
For practicalities, there are stalls along the way with hot drinks and sweet treats. And a warming fire awaits at the giant Christmas tree.
