I stopped doing SIP and…. started Step-up SIP in the exact same fund that earned me Rs.1 crore extra. Here’s how :- Obviously with increase in the income every year, I just stepped up or increased my SIP monthly amount to 10% annually to earn that extra 1cr, below is the calculation for the same :- With 10,000/- monthly normal SIP for 20 years your matured value will be around Rs.1 crore.. BUT With a 10% step up SIP annually (say 11,000/- monthly SIP for the 2nd year, 12,100/- for the 3rd year and so on) the maturity value after 20 years will be around Rs. 2 crores giving you 1 crore extra than normal SIP. Isn’t this amazing? With the rise in income every year and not to forget the rate at which inflation rises, step up SIP is a must. The above calculation is done assuming 13% CAGR.
