OCThis footage was taken 5 days ago at Marineland, Antibes, in France.
A mother and son, Wikie and Keijo, have been abandoned since 2021 in a shuttered marine park, swimming in a tiny, algae filled tank, a tank that’s literally falling apart.
They’ve already lost 2 family members. Wikie’s brother and first born in recent years.
Both of them were born in captivity and need to be transferred to a sanctuary that will allow them to live our their remaining years in a suitable and humane environment.

WEThis January marked a full year since Marineland Antibes closed down, leaving France’s last two captive killer whales–Wikie and Keijo–stuck in deteriorating conditions. All of the other animals besides the two killer whales and twelve dolphins were moved to safety long ago.
One whole year...just waiting.
Plans to transfer the whales to other marine parks that care for orca have been blocked by activists demanding a move to a sanctuary. BUT THERE IS NO SANCTUARY!
Their options are limited: death due to poor conditions, euthanasia, or relocation to another captive facility. Wikie and Keijo deserve to live. France must act quickly to save them.
Time is running out.

For over a year, Wikie and her son, Keijo, have been trapped in a shut-down marine park in France, in tanks that are NO longer safe.
Despite misleading reports in the media, there are no orca sanctuaries anywhere in the world right now to take them.
The ONLY option left to save their lives is to be transferred to another marine park. If not, they face being euthanized - killed.
Please help me and TideBreakers rescue them, urging the French and Spanish governments to approve their transfer to safety immediately.

Born Free is deeply concerned to hear that Marineland is reportedly considering sending Wikie and her son Keijo, the two orcas currently housed at their facility in Antibes, France, across the ocean to SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida, where they would continue to live in tiny tanks and be exploited for profit.
The future of the orcas, and twelve bottlenose dolphins housed alongside them, has been uncertain since Marineland Antibes shut its doors to visitors a year ago in response to a French law banning orca and dolphin shows and ending the keeping of cetaceans in commercial captive facilities in the country.
Born Free urges Marineland to uphold the spirit of the French law and focus on securing genuine sanctuary care for all the remaining animals at Antibes, where they can live out their lives in safety and comfort.
