So the question is not “Why can’t you get 8?” The question is “Why can’t your physiology downshift efficiently?” What I mean by sleep performance Sleep performance is the quality of the downregulation process. How consistent your timing is. How quickly you initiate sleep. How stable your autonomic state becomes after lights out. How fragmented the night is. Sleep regularity in particular is not a lifestyle aesthetic.
