STI’ve shared a lot over the past week about @witcheryfashion’s new direction … and my DMs have been full of customers who no longer feel welcome in a store they’ve loved for years (a store many of their mothers loved too).
This is just a 2.5 minute summary of my thoughts - thanks @katrinablowers and @7newsqueensland for having me share them.
From the outside looking in, this new direction looks like a case study for PR, marketing and business students on what not to do. But maybe it’s actually worked for the brand? Time will tell.
Regardless, diversity in fashion marketing is the hill I will die on. It’s the reason I show up here. It’s the reason why my label exists.
The fashion industry should be built on a premise of helping people feel good in what they’re wearing, no matter their age, size, colour or ability.
It shouldn’t be up to small brands to lead the way in this. But they are.
Big brands: DO BETTER!
