I bet when you learned backwards skating you didn’t do this. A slow-motion backwards stride, mimicking the normal forwards skating movement. Tag a skate buddy you’d like to try this with. Almost everyone starts learning #backwardsskating keeping both skates on the ground all the time (doing lemons/bubbles or half lemon/bubble shapes. I call that the “Backwards Butt Wiggle”😬 Imagine being a beginner and trying to skate forwards keeping both skates on the ground. It doesn’t work well forwards. To get going from scratch, this lifting stride is much more efficient. This is what I call “a missing piece”. When someone learns to skate backwards without doing this lifting stride, they hugely increase the time it’ll take them to become proficient. Did you skip this?
