Here’s the hack 👀: If your content starts with a mistake, a discomfort, or something people secretly worry about…that’s a negative hook. People don’t pause for “perfectly fine” content, they stop when something feels off. That little gut punch of: “Wait… am I messing this up?” 😩 “Have I been doing it wrong this whole time?” 🧍🏼‍♀️ That’s the power of a negative hook; it calls out, it doesn’t flatter. Here are 20 negative hooks that’ll force people to watch your videos: 1. “The worst advice I ever got about [topic].” 2. “The brutal truth about [niche thing]” 3. “The truth about [common belief] no one ever tells you.” 4. “Avoid X if you want Y.” 5. “If you keep doing X, you’ll never achieve Y.” 6. “Here’s why this never works the way people say it does.” 7. “Are you tired of wasting money on ___?” 8. “Why haven’t you found a solution to ___ yet?” 9. “You don’t need more __ ,you need __.” 10. “What __ doesn’t want you to know about ___.” 11. “You’ve been lied to about this your whole life.” 12. “This is exactly what NOT to do.” 13. “Stop doing this if you care about your [money/health/etc.].” 14. “Don’t assume __ will fix your problems.” 15. “Don’t even try to [goal] until you fix this first.” 16. “This might hurt to hear, but it’s true… 17. “__ will not fix your problems, this will.” 18. “If you keep doing [specific action], you’ll regret it later.” 19. “I don’t want to sound rude, but…” 20. “The biggest mistake you’re making in __.” These work because they mix fear + curiosity + urgency. And in 2025, attention is the new currency. 💰 They’re not about being harsh, they’re about being real. Point out the problem, then show the fix and watch your shares + saves take off. 💌 #ugccreator #contentcreation #negativehooks #viralhooks #reelstips #instagramhacks #socialmediastrategy #socialmediamarketing #contentstrategy #socialmediatips #instagramgrowthtips #creatorcommunity #instagramtips

Getting client approvals feel like a full-time job sometimes, right? Posts sit in limbo. Feedback trickles in late. Someone approves in one place, comments in another, and suddenly you’re not quite sure if a post is actually ready to go live. If you’re tired of chasing approvals, this blog post is for you. Feedback isn’t always about growth or your performance. Sometimes it’s about comfort, optics, or protecting someone else. But when the feedback feels off, get it in writing. Not to be difficult. To be clear. Written feedback does one powerful thing: It removes spin. It exposes inconsistencies. It makes them stand by what they said. And it gives you something solid to respond to. Dates. Facts. Quotes. No emotions. Just receipts. You’re not documenting to start a fight. You’re documenting to protect your reality. Future you will thank present you. Save this for your next “quick chat”

Most of those “replying to a comment” reels you see? Yeah… a lot of them are fake 😅 But here’s the thing… if done right, it’s one of the smartest ways to make people stop scrolling. The key is in what kind of questions you use. If you’re faking it, at least make it valuable. Here are some formats you can use 👇 💭 Curiosity... “How did you ___ with just ___?” 💡 Value-seeking... “Can you explain how you ___?” 🤨 Contradiction... “But isn’t ___ just a waste of time?” 🎯 Challenge... “Can you prove this actually works?” 🧠 Behind the scenes... “What made you start doing ___?” ❤️ Relatable... “I’ve been struggling with this too... any tips?” You can use this for any language reel... just tweak the tone. And if you’re stuck, ask ChatGPT things like... ‘Curiosity questions for fake comments’ or ‘Relatable fake comment ideas for content creators’

This is why you keep posting… Engagement has changed, but humans haven’t. We’re still searching for answers to specific questions, needs & interests-looking for insights from people who’ve actually done the thing or experienced the issue. I know it can feel discouraging to show up week after week, talk to the camera, post & see little engagement. You either want to give up completely or start copying everyone else, and neither feels right. The most successful personal brands show up FAMILIAR FAST & HUMAN EARLY. They make content that answers real questions & can make a stranger feel like they already know them a little or what it would be like to work with them. That means longer-form, talk-to-camera content. The kind that’s not going viral but is absolutely viable. I think we underestimate how humans actually decide who to work with. A lot of trust is built through content that doesn’t look impressive or feel entertaining. You’re a consumer. I’m a consumer. We all lurk with love, seeking out answers without engaging until we’re ready. The highly specific, educational stuff might feel like it’s not doing much but it’s often the content that keeps working long after you post it. It gets found months or years later by someone with a very specific question who’s already trying to decide who they trust. Mindset shifts: ▫️This is for future clients who don’t know you yet. Answer their unasked questions - that’s where trust is really built. Give it all away. ▫️This content informs algorithms about your topic so they can serve you up later. ▫️Creating content makes you clearer on your expertise & better at explaining it, on or off camera. ▫️You’re building a library of your expertise that people can binge before they ever book a call. ▫️It removes objections & answers questions which speeds up your sales cycle. ▫️One piece of content can answer the same question for dozens of people over years. That’s leverage. Viable > Viral #ContentStrategy #ContentTips #ContentCreator

I grew to 30k+ followers in 8 months. Ignore the noise. Just do this to get started: 1 - Post 3 times, 3 formats Do NOT think about making good content to begin. Make crappy content to begin with. Post 3 piece of content in 3 different formats. In the beginning you won’t know what you like, what you are good at, what audience resonates with. The 3 format: 1) talking head. You talk to your front camera like you are in a FaceTime call. 2)Caption post. Like this one. 3)Voice over. Edit together different clips you have. Put them together and just record a voice over saying what is on your mind. Now you have 3 posts. Congrats. You are already ahead of 99.9% of people who never get past post 3. 2 - Post 10 times, 1 format Of the three post, which did you enjoy most? Do it again. Now slightly different. Maybe it is the format. I realised I convey my message best in this caption format, so I do it more often than talking head. I’ve gotten millions of views just from this format alone. Maybe it is the idea. In some of my earlier video I talked about consulting, then more general career advice, then confidence… and I realised career advice suits me best. Whatever you learn in your first 3 videos, now make 10 videos similar to that. 3 - 1% improvement Obviously you won’t go anywhere if you just make crappy content. But you also won’t go anywhere if you aim to make the perfect piece of content straight out of the gate. So take a ramp up approach. In every single one of the 10 piece of content, improve 1 tinyyyy thing. Maybe you choose a better looking font. Maybe you spoke louder. Maybe you added caption. Easy. 1 thing per piece of content. 99% of people won’t even be reading till this point. So if you do - that means you are serious about this! So why not try it? Start with step 1, and DM me how it goes :) Follow @jason.yslai for more tips on building a differentiated personal brand.
