ALI’m not always a fan of rote memorization of facts and information except when it comes to multiplication facts! It just makes all of math so much easier when you know them!
Here’s where XtraMath comes in! I’ve been using this online fact fluency program with my students for years now and I always see a lot of growth for those students who use it regularly.
XtraMath is a self paced program that is personalized for each of your students. There is a free version and a paid version available.
The paid version allows you to personalize the program a little bit more and tailor it more specifically to each of your students. But the free version is fabulous as well!
In fifth grade my focus is for my students to have their multiplication and division fax at the ready to help make fractions a little easier. So I have the upgraded program this year which allows me to assign just multiplication and division facts apart from addition and subtraction.
My kids actually like practicing with extra math because it’s a game of fied approach and the race the teacher to try and get as many facts correct as possible.
if you are an elementary teacher I highly recommend this program. It makes a great station activity or independent work activity for your students while you are teaching small groups.
