Is this Dough ALIVE? 😱🥖 Wait, is this bread... breathing? 😱🥖 It appears to be a creature from a sci-fi movie, but it's actually the key to making the most scrumptious bread ever! 🥯✨ The Explanation: Meet the Sourdough Starter—a thriving ecosystem of wild yeast and beneficial bacteria. 🦠 Unlike regular bread, sourdough relies on a natural fermentation process. 🧪 As the microorganisms feed on flour, they release Carbon Dioxide, causing the dough to rise, bubble, and move like it's living! 🧬 Some starters have been around for over 100 years, passed down through generations. #sourdough #foodscience #fermentation #wildyeast

Try this homemade yeast recipe if you have these 5 ingredients available. You will love it! Ingredients: Flour 1cup(whole wheat or plain flour) Lukewarm Water 1cup Sugar 1tbsp Honey1tbsp Curd 2 tbsp(if possible use sour curd) To use add 1/4cup of homemade yeast to 1cup of flour this ratio works for all recipes If the recipe mentions 2 cups of flour then use 1/2 cup of yeast and so on. Storage: You can store this yeast for 4-5 days in the refrigerator. Cover it but do not close the lid to tight let the yeast breath. To store it longer the yeast needs to be fed once every week with equal proportions of flour and lukewarm water. Tip: Always bring the yeast at room temp before using. Make sure there are bubbles on the surface of the yeast this ensures that it is active. #homemadeyeast #yeastathome #yeast #baking #bakingtips #bake #knowledge #cookingvideos #recipes #videos #instagram #instafood #food #foodiesofinstagram

A happy sourdough starter is like a little kitchen pet — bubbly, a bit tangy, and full of life! When it’s healthy, it grows fast after feeding and gets nice and fluffy with lots of tiny bubbles. That means the wild yeast is doing its thing and is ready to help you bake amazing bread. All it needs is some flour, water, and love — and in return, it gives you the perfect rise every time. #sourdough #sourdoughbread #sourdoughbreadrecipe #wildyeast

HOW TO ACTIVATE YEAST 🍞🥖✨ I asked on stories recently if this was intimidating, and a lot of you said yes, so here’s a quick tutorial & some tips! 1️⃣ heat water to a hot bath temperature (100-110°F) - it should feel like a hot bath, not too hot to hold a finger in, but definitely on the hotter side of warm. I like to do this by boiling water, and then adding cooler water until I get to the right temp. I just use my finger to temperature test and it’s always worked! Water that’s too hot will kill the yeast, not enough enough and it won’t activate. 2️⃣ don’t skip the sugar! It doesn’t add sweetness, it’s just food for the yeast to help the bread (or whatever you’re using the yeast for) rise. 3️⃣ have patience with the rise. I usually let the water/yeast/sugar mixture rise for about 10 to 15 minutes before mixing with the rest of the dough. 4️⃣ use fresh, high-quality yeast. Older yeast won’t activate as well (or at all). I always use @bobsredmill. Store in the fridge if you won’t go through it quickly! Let me know if you have ANY other question in the comments below and I’ll answer!! Yeast shouldn’t feel intimidating :) good bread is in your future!

Sourdough bread yeast is technically alive during fermentation, feeding on sugars and releasing gases that cause the dough to rise. This living process creates a bubbling, active mixture that many people find both fascinating and slightly unsettling. Unlike commercial yeast, sourdough relies on wild yeast and bacteria working together in a natural fermentation process. This unique blend gives sourdough bread its signature tangy flavor, chewy texture, and improved digestibility. The presence of living microorganisms is what makes sourdough fermentation so special and healthy. It enhances flavor, boosts nutrients, and shows how traditional bread making uses real biological activity to create something delicious. 🍞

The next time you bake with yeast, make sure it’s alive and ready to rise! This tip is for active dry yeast. Start with warm water (100–110°F), a little sugar, and stir in the yeast. Let it sit 5–10 mins; it should bubble and foam. No action? Start over—your water may be too hot, or your yeast might be expired. Save this for later or send it to a friend who needs a little baking backup! 🍞 #bakingtips #yeastdough #bakingwithyeast
