✨FUN FACT : NASA Astronauts discovered that falling on the Moon could be surprisingly dangerous. Even though lunar gravity is only about one-sixth of Earth’s, their bulky spacesuits were extremely stiff and heavy, weighing about 200 pounds on Earth and carrying a large life-support backpack. If an astronaut fell the wrong way, the rigid suit and backpack could make it difficult to stand back up without help. During missions like Apollo 11 and Apollo 17, NASA trained astronauts to roll onto their side and push themselves up, because falling flat on their back in the fine lunar dust could puncture the suit and leave them struggling on there back and on the Moon, with no air, extreme temperatures, and no quick rescue, even a simple fall could become a serious emergency.
