The Porsche 962S might be the closest thing ever built to a road-legal Le Mans prototype.
It was based on the legendary Porsche 962 Group C race car that dominated endurance racing in the 1980s, including victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
In the early 1990s, German company Dauer Racing converted a few leftover 962 race chassis into street-legal supercars by adding lights, a refined interior, and road equipment.
Powered by a twin-turbo flat-six producing around 730 horsepower and weighing just over 2,300 pounds, the car could reach speeds near 250 mph, making it one of the fastest road cars of its era.
